Anuman Interactive wins the Agatha Christie license to produce adventure games under the Microïds label

Quote:
Montreuil (France), August 19, 2013. Anuman Interactive’s adventure game label Microïds wins the right to use Agatha Christie’s novels. The development and publishing deal was negociated by Interactive Rights Management (IRM), the interactive rights agency on behalf of Agatha Christie Limited. A series of investigation games based on her work are currently in development.

After releasing two new adventure games - Dracula 4: The Shadow of the Dragon and The inquisitor, Book I: The Plague - in summer 2013, Microïds is planning on appealing once again to the players’ intelligence with the purchase of the Agatha Christie license.

Microïds has experience in developping several adventure games that have become references points in the industry, with the Syberia saga as its benchmark. Headed by Elliot Grassiano, they are taking on the challenge of bringing some of the crime novelist’s most iconic stories and detectives, such as Hercule Poirot, to life. This deal promises loads of surprises, twisting plots, quality dialogue and drama, subtle interrogations and unexpected outcomes for the fans.

Alain Milly, Publishing Director at Anuman Interactive says “Microïds experience in adventure gaming combined with Agatha Christie’s genius whose work goes beyond all generations can only lead to new must-plays for all the mystery and investigation fans”.

Valerie Bozzetto, Joint Managing Director IRM says “Agatha Christie has already proven itself as a great game brand with the huge success we have had with our downloadable games, but we relish the challenge to make more immersive and true adventure–led games with the experts at Microïds”.

Tamsen Harward, VP Sales and Marketing, Acorn Productions Ltd which manages the rights to Agatha Christie adds: “Coming at an exciting time for the Christie brand, we feel this development will deliver a whole new level of experience for Christie’s fans around the world”.

Agatha Christie (1890 – 1976) is the author who sold the more novels across the globe according to the Guinness World Records. Nicknamed the Queen of Crime, she specialized in closed-door thrillers and spying stories. Her 66 novels, 154 short stories and 20 plays were translated worldwide more than 7.000 times. "Ten Little Niggers", "Death on the Nile" or "Murder on the Orient-Express" are one of the many titles that have been adapted in a movie or on TV.

The first PC/Mac/iOS/Android title of this saga of investigation games will soon be announced.

Happy Gaming!

Wow !! If Microids use a similar format to the previous Agatha Christie Adventures (all three of which I recently re-played) I'll be one of the first in the queue to buy !!

Thanks for that news, BrownEyedTigre broccoli

Hi ana. I just hope that these new Agatha Christie games will not be in the "casual" or "Hidden object" format. I so enjoyed the first two AG games, but was very disappointed with the third one.
I guess I'm just an "Adventure" game addict.
I thank you for the news about the coming series.

Wow is right Mad!!! I love Agatha Christie. I wouldn't mind seeing the odd Miss Marple also.

Anuman's casual format are developed under the name HdO. Their Microids division handle the adventures. I am sure however it will be like the others they have done and make it episodic.

I remember playing two of the Agatha Christie games because I love AC. However, I remember them being well done, except illogical. The one that always stands out is "Murder On The Orient Express", you had to take a footprint in the snow (not exactly possible) and after trying everything "logical", it ended up being
Click to reveal..
the cake batter?
Seriously? Most of the puzzles/solutions were this way, using items that made no sense whatsoever, so I never continued the series. I hope if they come back w/new ones, they'll think them through a bit more! The graphics were always lovely.

That's excellent news. I enjoyed all three of the original AC adventure games. Thanks, Ana.

Episodic ??

One game released in episodes ??

Or a "series" of games ??

Mad, this is the same company that released the latest Dracula. They tend to make shorter games that do not have an official ending. They do not call them episodic and you won't know until released. I just expect it to be the same as the other adventure games they produce in that aspect.

Does anyone have any info concerning Ten Little N*****s ? Was it a novel, play or movie, the title has peaked my interest.

I believe the novel was released here in the US as "Ten Little Indians" and several movie versions were made under the same name. There was one in 1965 with Hugh O'Brien.

Mag,

Thanks for the editing of the title. I don't want to offend anyone but I found that title kinda of interesting in this day of racial awareness.

I love Agatha Christie's books and the previous games, so this is welcome news indeed.

'And Then There Were None' is my favorite AC novel and if you want to see the best film version, imo you need to track down the Russian version 'Desyat' Negrityat' which is the only film adaptation to use Christie's original ending.

That is great news, I hope they won't stray away too far from the first three.

And then there were none is one of my favourite games, with all 3 in my top 10.

I hope they won't go for ABC Murders, this was one of the most boring books of Agatha.

Murder in Mesopotamia might be a good idea, an archeological dig in Iraq. Or The mystery of the blue train on the French Riviera. Or one taking place in a rich palace in Devon with another dysfunctional family fighting over the inheritance and a few murders... There are many of those to choose from. Or The Secret of Chimneys might be a good one.

I can't wait!

Great news! Hopefully we will see the return of David Suchet as the voice of Poirot if they do one of those.

Lets hope they do a Death on the nile point and click! Mr David Suchet could do the naration as the TV series has finished.

EDIT: Agatha Christie certainly would be surprised to see computer games of her books!
