Hi kjos,
Now that you are playing Drac 5, is it anything like Drac 4? I was very disappointed with Drac 4. I had expected an ADVENTURE game, and it turned out to be more like a HIDDEN OBJECT game. At least that is MY opinion. Am I right to feel that way?

Dracula 5 is a continuation of Dracula 4 and the gameplay is pretty much the same. If you didn't like Dracula 4, you probably won't like Dracula 5 either -- though you do get to see the real Dracula at the end.

Why did you think Dracula 4 was like a hidden object game? Because it was short? Because it was first person? It might be similar to a casual adventure (with better production values and higher system requirements), but without hidden object screens, it's not a hidden object game.

Well, Jenny, maybe the term "Hidden Object game" was a little overstated by me, but I think that "CASUAL game" may be what I meant. I guess I'm comparing Drac 4 to the previous Dracula games which were definitely really what I call ADVENTURE games.I see that Rushes wasn't too thrilled by Drac 4, either.

No, I thought it was dreadful, to be quite honest. There was virtually nothing in it for it to accurately label itself as a Dracula game. It was also far too short.

I shall be giving Drac 5 a shot, and crossing fingers it will be more enjoyable.

I watched part of the video walkthrough on YouTube and, frankly, this is a huge comedown for Microids, IMO.
It's hard to believe the same company developed Syberia.
The characters are about as natural as plastic mannequins and lip syncing simply doesn't exist.
Not to mention that they are not very well drawn.
I hope the puzzles and the story are worth it for those of you who play the game.

Gil.

It's not the same company Gil. The name and IP's were purchased by Anuman. Sadly, the name is all that remains of the old Microids.

Oh, good grief, I suppose that it was seeing Microids plastered all over the game that made me forget about Anuman.
Anuman's name on a game is an automatic NO as far as I'm concerned.
Since they seem to feel the need to use Microid's name and trade on their reputation, I may not be the only one who feels that way.

Gil.

So I saw Mag's walkthrough posted, and despite my complaining about Drac 4, I bought Drac 5 from Gamersgate for $15. Playing it now,(in ADVENTURE mode) and so far I'm actually enjoying it, RUSHES.
Maybe I played Drac 4 in CASUAL mode without realizing it. Happy Gaming, fellow BOOMERS, and OH YES, thanks Mag, for another MAGnificent WT.
