2 questions:
1).What is the best video card for under $200?
2).Cyberpower is offering a amd-hd-7750 in their gx1000 model and a NVidia gtx650 in their gx2000 model, are these any good or would you upgrade. I adventure game not action game.

Either card is fine for adventure games.
Here's a comparison

Yup, what Jenny said.

I also like this comparison at GPU Boss... they give these two "no winner; too close to call" ratings.

I don't know what their requirements are, but do make sure you have enough power supply for them.

Jenny100--Thanks for the website but it didn't help much. Just a bunch of numbers that were too techy.
I wanted things like, this one takes up 2 pci bays or this one runs hot or this one requires an extra power connector or this one is noisy or you would be better off with the XXXX for the money,or we recommend this one instead. Stuff like that.

Edit: Thanks draclvr, thats more of what I was thinking of. Looks like a tie.

While AMD and Nvidia make the chips, many different manufacturers manufacture the video cards. I like places like Newegg to check out user reviews to see what actual users have to say about things like you were mentioning. I usually throw out all the 1 egg reviews as they are from people who got dead cards or something like that.

Radeon 7750 at Newegg for Reviews

GTX 650 at Newegg for Reviews

I'm going to stack since it's been several days since I last posted

Geo, Newegg has an EVGA GTX 650Ti on sale for $160 with a $10 rebate right now. The card has a 5-egg rating from users and I really like EVGA. My last two cards have been from them. I like that they actually exhaust a lot of their heat from the back of the card. It requires a minimum of a 450 watt power supply and adequate cooling in the case.

GTX 650 Ti

Oh, I see! Oh, well, the Newegg sale is a good one for someone looking to upgrade to a better card. Which one did you decide to go with?

The GTX650 is the better of the two, and probably has more compatibility with games (I could be wrong though, I don't run AMD's very often). Either is fine for most Adventures.

The only major difference between Nvidia and AMD , is Nvidia has a couple of propriatery technologies that AMD does not . PhysX being the most prominant example . In a game with PhysX , if you use an Nvidia card , you might see a butterfly or a vapor trail of a bullet flying by . With an AMD card , you would not . Even then , the differences are ratuer irrelevant , as there are not very many games that contain PhysX anyhow .

They're basically equivalent, but due to the higher Core speed the 650 effectively has a wider memory bandwidth. Benchmarks also rate it faster at Pixel and Texture fills.

Would it make muck difference in a typical adventure game - probably not. Like I said, either would be fine.

No difference in adventure games for either card . I agree either would be quite ok for adventures for the forseeable future . The Nvidia's wider memory bandwidth would really come in to play more in fps or rpg games , or with monitors with resolutions greater than 1080p .
