This has just happened since the last few days!

I can get sound on everything else but not on You Tube. Also I can't access Pagoda Games - it flashes on then off leaving me with a blank screen (still with a toolbar etc)

chrissie, that happened to me too, the other day. I couldn't work out what it was, until I checked the sound slider bar that appears just to the right of the play button on any vid. Somehow it had been slid over to the left (muted in effect) -- I hadn't touched it. It actually quirked like that on a couple of videos. woozy Seems to be ok now, though.

(Double check also that the speaker icon doesn't have a mute "x" next to it.)

Wow! that was quick Rushes! but thank you so much as moving the slider worked!

A lot of strange things seem to be going on on my PC at the mo EG:I mainly use Office Publisher 2007 but all of a sudden I've got Publisher 2010 icons next to them like it's snatching & I have to right-click to open up in my 'native' 2007 Publisher?

Happened to me at about same time.
I checked, fiddled, screeched.
I played with the mute button, adjusted volume controls, plugged and unplugged, boot and reboot, did system restore, adjusted firewall, toggled Norton settings...

Then all of a sudden it blared --- since my volume was on full - scared me silly. eek

Many people seem to be having this problem -- YouTube sound being muted by default. It happens both on Mac and PC.

Best I can tell is that the problem is caused by a Flash update. If you don't want YouTube muted by default, and if the problem keeps recurring, they say to uninstall and reinstall Flash, deleting certain files before reinstalling

I have experienced the same non-sound problem also, Chrissie. Now that I know the reason, it's easy enough to just move the slider to the right. Thanks for this heads-up, fellow Boomers

Happened to me too.
