Is Spybot a similar program to Norton and/or Malwarebytes?
Will it conflict with either of the above programs?

I used to have it on my computer but somewhere along the line I must have deleted it (or lost it when I got my new hard drive).

The answer is....chocolate! Who cares what the question is.....

Spybot Search and Destroy is stand-alone anti spyware. It doesn't interfere with Norton or Malwarebytes because it doesn't run in real time. You run a scan to find spyware. I used to use it too back in the old XP days, but now I use Malwarebytes Pro.

If you redownload Spybot, make sure you don't get the product that includes anti-virus software.

So Spybot does a "different" job than Norton or Malwarebytes?
I don't want to duplicate chores.

I didn't know that Spybot INCLUDES any anti-virus. I'll watch what I'm doing.
Thanks.

The old Spybot was similar to MalwareBytes, though you could use both for scanning. They'd both search for malware that wasn't specifically a virus, trojan, or worm, and it was possible that one would find something that the other wouldn't.

Now all these different programs have versions that try to be everything -- scanning both malware and virus, and working in realtime as opposed to being just a scanner.

The 1.6 version of Spybot is still available as a download at the bottom of the download page.
