Hope you get some variety, and if not, some money luck

Hi All, I have been playing GW2 for a while now and I'm looking for some variety. I played SW:TOR for a while and I guess I'm looking for advice or suggestions for someone that is looking at coming back to the game. I realize this is a pretty vague request and any help, no matter how general would be appreciated.

Well, I went ahead and started playing SW:TOR again. I still have the two characters I played before, a level 17 Gunslinger and level 18 Jedi Sage but I decided to start a fresh character so started a Jedi Knight. So far it doesn't look or play any differently. The free vs. subscription options are a bit confusing but I chose subscription for now, mainly so I can have more characters.

I would appreciate any advice if there is anything really different that would be good to know while playing a low level character. Otherwise, I'll just play for a while and will pick it up as I go.

How you play the game hasn't challenged, although some skill trees have. Every time they change skill trees some characters get their skill trees automatically reset so you have to reapply your skill points.

Max level went from 50 to 55.

When I started each planet had it own Commendation, which was only useful for equipment or equipment mods of that planet's level. Later they changed it to "Planet Commendations" and you decide whether to use on current planet or wait until later one. All the planet com vendors are on the fleet so you can check them all out.

There are now several "Tactical Flashpoints". These do not require 1, tank, 1 healer and 2 DPS to complete. Group finder will find the first four players available. I've done them on all tank, all healers and all DPS teams. The first flash point for each side is this way and there are 3 or 4 more. At level 15 you gain access to Kuat Drives Flashpoint. Its actually a level 55 flashpoint, all characters under 55 are bolstered so they do level 55 damage or healing. This flash point is probably the fastest way to level up.

There's more level 55 stuff. Including a story line that has you invading the other sides planets.

When I first start a new character I do every quest on the starter world. I've also begun doing acheivments, which mostly consists of killing lots of different foes.

From level 10-15 the fastest way to level up is to do the first flash point you gain access to on the fleet. Get the quest "Introduction to Groupfinder" first. Then add yourself to groupfinder and wait. After completing flash point return to fleet to get the quest reward. Then get the quest "[WEEKLY]Searching for allies". Go get the flashpoint quest again and add yourself to groupfinder again.

If you're level 15 find the strong hold quest hologram (on fleet and capital worlds). If you've been a subscriber long enough you'll have a free Nar Shadaa strong hold. If not you'll need 5K to buy a strong hold on your capital world. Going to the stronghold will complete the quest. NOTE: the quest gives more exp the higher your level so if you dont have a free stronghold or the credits to buy one you may as well wait to do the quest later. Just do it before you reach level 55 (no xp if you're 55).

When the Raghoul Plague event comes back its a good way to level too,but be aware it has mixed level people doing it and if you're level under level 55 you want to avoid the 55 mobs that spawn for 55s. Some people don't fight their mobs and if a level 55 runs your way run as fast as can from them because if they lead a level 55 mob to you, your dead. Fortunately the mobs don't last too long. So if you see them you can out distance them. There's a operation for ragoul plague that bolsters characters up so you dont have to be level to do it, however the group heroic quest does not so finding a lower level team to do it can be difficult. Since they dont' do the plague very often it may not come up this year again.

Update: Rimo Astra (Jedi Sentinel) has advanced from ultra-noob to noob status. smile He is now level 12 and fighting the Black Sun on Coruscant. Next stop, getting my ship.

I haven't done the first flashpoint yet. I just re-read your advice Guybrush. I think I will try a flashpoint next.

So you just took the shuttle off the fleet than.

You've got into it just as they're going to change things. Shadow of Raven is going to replace the skill tree with a different system called Disciplines. And like WOW, you will not have to buy new skills, you'll just get them automatically as you level.

I just learned something about strongholds, from reading official forums. When you complete chapter 3 goto Legacy: Locations: General: Chapter 3. Click on character class and right click on the decoration to unlock a sign for Strongholds. You can click on it multiple times to add multiple copies of the sign.

Wow, dark side female jedi actually gets a wedding ceremony if she marries "Doc". Other characters and companions just say they're married no ceremony.

When you level you still have to get new skills from a trainer but the skills now cost 0 credits.

Misuteri, light side imperial agent operative, reached level 55.

Fastest way to do that with 12X class quest experience is to do Mekab once you've reached level 50. Only the main Mekab planet quests are needed, no side quests. Even though the main quests show in quest log under Mekab rather than class they count as class. The side quests do not and don't get the bonus experience. 3 quests took Misuteri from level 53 to 55.

Raghoul plague is on. Its on Corellia this time. Psyco had to go there anyway for class quests.

Turns out the writers did recognize that some races should not be genetically compatible. When my female twi'lek jedi consular/sage married her male human companion, he talked about adopting children. Same when my human female trooper/commando married her male cathar companion.

Got two more characters to level 55 doing first two quests on Makeb. Pysco went from 43 to 50 doing class quests on 2 planets and to 51 doing plague (no bonus xp for the event).
