Once upon a time, I tried using Opera to upload photos to Photobucket only to be told Photobucket didn't support Opera and it couldn't take advantage of all the Photobucket options. Ok, not a problem, I'll just switch to IE.

I think at the time it was IE 9, but sine then IE 9 has upgraded to IE 10. Remembering that Opera isn't fully supported by Photobucket, I tried uploading photos to Photobucket a few days ago and nada, no photos uploaded. The only thing I see is a place card where the photo would go and the ever present circular "wait while things happen" thing.

Ok, back to Opera, and no problem uploading photos to Photobucket. No wait thingy, no muss, no fuss. I contacted Photobucket and received one e-mail so far saying to disable add-ons, which I did, but that didn't solve the problem. A second e-mail arrived today asking a couple more questions, but no solutions.

Has anyone encountered problems uploading photos to Photobucket using IE 10? I saw one possible solution on Google to Reset IE but I'm not keen on losing my add-ons and settings.

Thanks for any help.

You may want to try running IE with no add-ons before you disable them. There is a program item located under Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools - look for Internet Explorer (no add-ons).

I was able to upload photos with no problems using IE 11 in Windows 8. I have IE 10 on my Windows 7 and need to boot it up later today and will check it out then.

I followed your advice, Inland, and was able to upload a photo without any problems. I don't want to always go this route when needing to use IE on Photobucket so it seems I'll have to try and eliminate the add-ons one at a time to see which is causing the problem.

I use Opera for browsing, which can, without problems, upload photos to Photobucket. The only problem using Opera is that Photobucket doesn't fully support Opera, so some Photobucket options won't work. But the only option I'm concerned with is uploading photos.

Thanks for the help.

Does Google own Photobucket?
Google refuses to support Opera when I'm working on my TBD website.
"You may have problems" it says.
Talk about annoying.
I hate using that clunker IE.

Under duress I will say that IE 10 and IE 11 are vastly improved and pretty good browsers. I still don't use IE 11 much because I've just gotten away from them and used to Firefox. I think it's more of a familiarity thing at this point.

Homer, I forgot to come back and say that I didn't have any issues uploading photos to Photobucket in IE 10 on my Windows 7 drive either.

Maybe it is familiarity at this point, Draclvr. but IE is seriously dull and old hat.
I never can find anything I'm looking for on IE without searching, including a Go button.
It doesn't appear to have Paste and Go.
Forget mouse gestures.
If it had Skins (ha), I might be able to make the Refresh button obvious.
And I must say I find the little pop-up notices showing a link on each and every thread on Gameboomers weird.

Well, to each her own.
I do love my Opera Speed Dial and my Assassin's Creed theme.
Ezio Auditore is hot. <g>

I gave Opera a full 2 weeks and just couldn't get comfortable with it. Same with Chrome and IE 11. I just keep going back to good old Firefox! I must say the the new IE 11 is really fast - it used to be such a dog.

Maybe I'm just too old to change!

Drac, if I follow Inland's advice about disabling ALL add-ons I can then upload photos to Photobucket. According to what I read on MS Support IE 10 is designed not to need add-ons, which it seems after disabling all add-ons is true.

It doesn't surprise me others are having no problem using IE 10 to upload photos to Photobucket. But what add-ons, if any, are loaded into IE 10? Are they the same as I see loaded? If the same are they enabled or disabled? What I do know, once all add-ons are disabled I can then upload photos to Photobucket. So one or more add-on is causing the problem. And without a detailed fix, short of a canned MS Support response, it would take some time to figure out which ones.

I saw a similar problem someone had posted in the MS community, three years ago, but short of resetting IE 10 to default settings, I'd tried all the suggestions. The person who posted the question never replied to the answer so I don't know it what was suggested solved their problem.

The only thing I haven't tried, one of the MS suggestion, is to reset IE 10 to default settings. I don't want to do this because it will restore IE 10 to vanilla mode, without add-ons, etc. And because my wife uses IE for browsing, I don't want to mess up anything she's used to.

As a side note, I just tried uploading to Image Shack and could once all add-ons were disabled. But my library wouldn't display properly, which could be a site problem. Re-enabling all add-ons once again caused a no upload problem. Looks like Opera will continue to be my uploading browser until a real fix, or solution, is found.

See if you can disable them all and then enable them one at a time to see which of them is causing the problem.

That's what I was going to suggest. I could upload with no problems in both IE 10 on my Windows 7 and IE 11 on my Windows 8.

Post a list of the add-ons you have enabled, maybe we can figure out which is causing the issue.

All add-ons can be disabled as Inland said, which I've done. I didn't think about turning them on one at a time, though. As to providing which add-ons are loaded, I'm not sure I could list them all because I have to scroll through them to see everything. And unless I miss my guess, only those showing can be captured, unless there's another way to list them all. If someone knows how to do a screen capture on scrolling information please let me know.

I Googled one of the add-ons I couldn't disable and found a post on Bleeping Computer about the same one. Turned out that person had more problems than just the add-on, and someone was in the process of having him run several information gathering programs. They also had him do several other things to clean out his computer. So I figured what the heck, registered, and posted about the problem add-on. Along with the IE 10 problem.

A person answered my post and had me run two information gathering programs, which I did. I've yet to check my e-mails so I don't know if they've gone over the information I left.

EDIT: I was finally able to remove the YrJie New Games add-on, thanks to dc3 on Bleeping Computer, by going into Control Panel and removing the program/file.

Here's a bit more information I just discovered. Following Inland's instructions about running IE without Add-ons, Accessories/System Tools/Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), a new IE window opens telling me IE is running without add-ons. Yet, if I then go to Manage Add-ons I see the same add-ons enabled/disabled as I do when running IE the usual way. If something has been disabled shouldn't all the enabled add-ons then show disabled?

Also, if you all would like the information I gathered for dc3 on Bleeping Computer let me know. One is a link the other is a Notepad file.

Bleeping Computer is very good at this sort of thing. I have to make the comment that if there are so many add-ons running you have to scroll through them, that's way too many add-ons!

I wouldn't know which add-ons should be loaded and which could be disables/removed. What add-ons there are have been installed by whatever program they belong to.

An update to my problem.

Nothing anyone suggested, including Bleeping Computer, cured the upload problem I was having with Photobucket. So in my normal way I surfed the web, Googling this phrase and that phrase, until I found a site which contained a sort of footnote which said that ad blockers could interfer with uploading. So I went back into Manage Add-ons and saw Avast! had installed an ad blocker, which I disabled. I then went to Photobucket and tried to upload another photo. Lo and behold, the photo uploaded without any problems. I also tried on another site I had problems with and had the same results. Disabling that ad-blocker solved the upload problem I was having.

Jeepers, that was a long way all around the problem to finally figure out what was causing it! Glad to know what it was...

That's true, Drac, but if someone has never encountered a particular problem they'll most likely try methods that have worked on other problems.

The big clue in my case was in disabling all add-ons and then being able to upload photos. And, being able to use a different browser to upload photos. Looking at the entire system, in this case, WAS a waste of time. Had I not tried finding something similar on the web I wouldn't have run across the "footnote" on one of the pages I checked.

Anytime someone helps troubleshoot computer problems they need to make sure they understand the problem. Which means the one with the problem must make sure to communicate as clearly as possible the extent of the problem, and anything they may have tried.

And one other thing, if a person doesn't know beans about what's being asked, it's best to either say so or remain quiet. Half baked ideas can become very confusing.

Thank you, Cathy. Sometimes the simple fixes can be the hardest to find.
