About 9 days ago I put 4 colors of eyebrows from the same set of brows into my Downloads folder. I then left the site and went to check the brows in the Creat a Sim in the game...... I double clicked on the Sims2 game launcher and got this message......"Sims2 Launcher has stopped working"....I couldn't get into the game...The game played just fine the night before...Thinking it was the 4 last downloads, I went into the Downloads folder and deleated them....Double clicked the launcher again and got the same Launcher message....Deleated another suspect from the Downloads folder .....No luck, the game launcher still would not work. ...So, I deleated the Whole Downloads folder with all my custom content in it....Well, the game launcher still would not launch the game and I was still getting the message. With out the Downloads folder in the Sims2 folder the game should have been about like out of the box....So I decided to uninstall, run ccleaner and reinstall it. I have 2 disk versions of the game and tried to install both.....When trying to install the DvD drive spins up and the light is flashing and the little circle startIs going around (like its starting the install process) the stops...I looked in help at theSimsresourse and Mod the sims. I'm not the only one who has ever had the problem of not being able to reinstall the game. The only help was people saying it probably had bits of the game still on the computer.....I did a search and it found 2 Sims2 entries which I deleated and ran ccleaner again.....I still can not reinstall the game.... Some have that ccleaner doesn't always get rid of everything. I don't think I'm up to messing in the computers registry..As always, thank you. Regi...... I wanted to add that there are stii some sims2 folders in the recycle bin.

I'd give Revo Uninstaller a shot, it's pretty good at completely removing things.

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware and Professional

Select the freeware version -

I was wondering if I should deleat ccleaner before I download/install Revo Uninstaller. Is it like virus protections where two different utilities do not play well together? Thanks again, Regi

They play well together. The freeware version performs a deep scan looking for leftover registry entries, which is probably why you can't reinstall the game.

I downloaded Revo and I get an oblong Box in the top left on my screen that has other downlaods in it. Big fish games mostly. The oblong box is an AOL savefile box. After file name there is revosetup highlighted in blue. There is a save button under it botttom right. I can't find a way to us it. No run button or option to save it to desktop or somplace to open it or run it. Thanks again.

Was the file you downloaded named revosetup.exe? It sounds like what you may be looking at is your download history.

If you don't see the setup program in the list, look for it in your download folder and run it from there.

I did take a look at the video Jenny. My problem is that I have already uninstalled TheSims2 Deluxe. There is no sim2 to click on to uninstall and then run a registry check. I still run the ccleaner for registry and it finds nothing. I don't need a uninstaller, it's to late for that. I think I need a real good registry cleaner......Altough when I check in add/remove programs there is nothing sims2 to be found....When I hit the Start button Sims2 Deluxe is listed at the top......I have deleted it about 3 times and it keeps showing up again.....Also, when I click the start button and choose games(Where solitare, minesweep, checkers, ect. is) TheSims2 Deluxe is there too. So I know the game is not completly gone. There is no way this game is ever going to reinstall at this rate....I did run ccleaner immediatly after uninstalling the game and nothing was found in registry cleaner....I typed in System Restore in the search box and saw the option to: Restore your computer or reinstall windows....I have never created a system image to use backup so, that is not an option for me. I do have my Windows 7 istallation disk. There is nothing on the computer, that I installed, that I would miss or could not put back..... I don't know if this is even safe for me to do.....Thanks again,Regi

Did you click on Restore to see if there is a restore point available? Unless you change your settings, this is done automatically.

Also have you looked in your msconfig Startup to see if the game is still listed there?

Never mind. I reread that and hit the part about "disks" and realized you couldn't "redownload" it to reinstall.

Mea culpa, Re.

Thanks all. Draclver, My earliest avalable restore point is Nov.12 and that is not far enough back. What is mscconfig Startup? Is that the start button bottom left? If so, the sims2 Deluxe is listed. Not usable but listed.... It may be listed again because I gave a reinstall a shot again. The game acts like it's beging to install and quits. Thanks again, Regi

If you have tried to reinstall, then looking in the msconfig Starup programs file won't help. But you can look there just in case. Click on Start, type msconfig in the search space and click on the search result. Click on the Startup tab and see if the game is listed in the list of startup programs.

If you tried to reinstall, I would give Revo Uninstaller a try again. Some bits might have gotten on the computer again. Don't necessarily look for Sims in the list... maybe check for the game developer or distributor name??

EDIT: I just checked something. I looked for games which I know I have uninstalled in that "Games" listing. Yes, they are there. So, I did a search for the games and found that all the results were files containing saved games.

Well, what I ment to say was that the most far back available restore point is Nov.12. In msconfig in the start up tab I found "EA downloa" That is probably the EA downloads manager for The Sims3. Sims2 did not have a downloads manager....I can not figure out how to use a Revo registry check if there is not anything left in add/remove for anything sims2. Yes, Sims3 is in there and no, I do not want to uninstall that.:) With ccleaner you can open registry check and have it do a check. Yes, I watched the video that Jenny100 linked. He downloaded something then uninstalled with Revo and then did a registry scan. I'm missing something I'm sure and feeling a bit dumber than dirt. Really, dirt is pretty smart. Ya put a seed it and it knows what to do. smile I'll Check out revo again tomorrow.
