Robert, this is probably a silly question but have you looked in the game folder? There might be a saved game file in there.

Gil
If he is using the GOG version I found it buried nine layers deep
C:\ Users\ User Name\ Local Settings\ Virtual Store\ Program Files X86\ Gog.com\ Dreamfall\ Saves
How is that for a treasure hunt?
On my system Win 7 Search won't find it using these terms-- Dreamfall--Saves---Gog,com--- or the file extension .sav It is the first time I've run into that.
Let's hope he is using gog because it's a simple matter of pasting the save into that folder. The gog version recognizes saves from the disc release. I just tested it after installing the gog version to track them down guessing that is the version he is most likely using.
If it is the old disc variety then the saves are likely going to be buried somewhere inside MY Documents or User Name. It could be a search because the possibilities are endless.

What about "hidden folders" With Win7 they might need to be revealed.

Isn't there a recent thread here about this same issue? I can't remember if the issue was resolved though.

I have sometimes found saves in .... My Documents/My Games/Saved Games. With no mention of anything like game title, developer or publisher to help along the way !! But I expect your searching, oldmariner, will have already covered that route ??

Yes I did Mad. Like I said I did find it by digging through User folders one at a time. The search feature did not help at all.

As Oldmariner said, the saves could be anywhere. I don't like the Windows search because it excludes search locations. Instead I use the Command line with administrative privileges. Click the Windows icon in the lower left of your screen and type CMD Right-click on the command line utility it should find and select "Run as Administrator" ("Run As Administrator" should allow it to search your entire hard drive) At the command line, type CD \and the Enter key on your keyboard gets you to the root folder, from which you can do a complete search DIR dreamfall_01.sav /Sand the Enter key on your keyboard should search your hard drive, including subfolders, for a save with the name dreamfall_01.sav If that doesn't work, you can try running the Process Monitor mentioned on this page in Post #10 http://forums.longestjourney.com/showthread.php?t=8326
