We must not allow the clock and the calendar to blind us to the fact that each moment of life is a miracle and mystery.
H. G. Wells (1866 - 1946)
~~~~~~~~~~
This is a compilation of actual Church Bulletins and Service bloopers...
Our next song is "Angels We Have Heard Get High".
Don't let worry kill you -- let the church help.
Remember in prayer the many who are sick of our church and community.
For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
Weight Watchers will meet a 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.
Jean will be leading a weight-management series Wednesday nights. She's used the program herself and has been growing like crazy!
The rosebud on the altar this morning is to announce the birth of David Alan Belzer, the sin of Rev. and Mrs... Julius Belzer.
This afternoon there will be a meeting in the South and North ends of the church. Children will be baptized at both ends.
Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. there will be an ice cream social. All ladies giving milk will please come early.
This being Easter Sunday, we will ask Mrs. Lewis to come forward and lay an egg on the altar.
The service will close with Little Drops of Water. One of the ladies will start quietly and the rest of the congregation will join in.
Next Sunday a special collection will be taken to defray the cost of the new carpet. All those wishing to do something on the carpet should come forward and do so.
The ladies of the church have cast off clothing of every kind. They can be seen in the church basement Saturday.
Thursday night--Potluck supper. Prayer and medication to follow.
Eight new choir robes are currently needed, due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.
The senior choir invites any member of the congregation who enjoys sinning to join the choir.
At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What is Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir practice.
During the absence of our pastor, we enjoyed the rare privilege of hearing a good sermon when A. B. Doe supplied our pulpit.
The Rev. Adams spoke briefly, much to the delight of his audience.
The church is glad to have with us today as our guest minister the Rev. Shirley Green, who has Mrs. Green with him. After the service we request that all remain in the sanctuary for the Hanging of the Greens.
The eighth graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet" in the church basement on Friday at 7 p.m. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.
The 1991 Spring Council Retreat will be hell May 10 and 11
Pastor is on vacation. Massages can be given to church secretary.
Please join us as we show our support for Amy and Alan in preparing for the girth of their first child.
Scouts are saving aluminum cans, bottles and other items to be recycled. Proceeds will be used to cripple children.
Classroom Dialogue
TEACHER: Maria, go to the map and find North America.
MARIA: Here it is!
TEACHER : Correct. Now class, who discovered America?
CLASS : Maria!
TEACHER : Why are you late, Frank?
FRANK : Because of the sign.
TEACHER : What sign?
FRANK : The one that says, "School Ahead, Go Slow."
TEACHER: John, why are you doing your math multiplication on the floor?
JOHN : You told me to do it without using tables!
TEACHER : Glenn, how do you spell "crocodile?"
GLENN : K-R-O-K-O-D- A-I-L"
TEACHER : No, that's wrong
GLENN : Maybe it s wrong, but you asked me how I spell it!
TEACHER : Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?
DONALD : H I J K L M N O!!
TEACHER : What are you talking about?
DONALD : Yesterday you said it's H to O!
TEACHER : Winnie, name an important thing we have today, we didn't have 10 years ago.
WINNIE : Me!
TEACHER : Goss, why do you always get so dirty?
GOSS : Well, I'm a lot closer to the ground than you are.
TEACHER : Millie, give me a sentence starting with "I."
MILLIE : I is...
TEACHER : No, Millie..... Always say, "I am."
MILLIE : All right... "I am the ninth letter of the alphabet."
TEACHER : Can anybody give an example of COINCIDENCE?
TINO: Sir, my Mother and Father got married on the same day, same time."
TEACHER: George Washington not only chopped down his father's cherry tree, but also admitted doing it. Now, Louie, do you know why his father didn't punish him?"
LOUIS : Because George still had the ax in his hand.
TEACHER : Now, Simon, tell me frankly, do you say prayers before eating?
SIMON : No sir, I don't have to, my Mom is a good cook.
TEACHER : Clyde, your composition on "My Dog" is exactly the same as your brother's. Did you copy his?
CLYDE : No, teacher, it's the same dog!
TEACHER: Harold, what do you call a person who keeps on talking when people are no longer interested?
HAROLD : A teacher.
Terrific Tuesday ya'll lab
Looks like a beautiful day out there. Not sure what I'm doing today other than "yogurting" again. The yogurt I made the other day came out grainy for the first time. Must google to see why.
Some laundry is running and there might be a dog walk in my future. But for the moment I must go feed the monkeys.
Pretty bike Ana!
So at 8:00 am, I was happily asleep when I heard my back doorbell ring. Listened, wasn't sure I wasn't dreaming, but nope, it was the doorbell followed by a second ringing. I have 2 bells there with different tones. My middle tenants use the classic Westminster chimes and my tenant/friend uses the other one. Well, after I didn't rush out naked on the first ring, the second bell chime went off. Sure sign it was the middle tenant.
Off I go, flapping robe, bare feet, hair in a mess and find my little tenant 'mom' at the gate saying something about something BIG and dead. Ok, time to wake up quickly. After a little 20 questions, I figured out that she was saying there was a dead animal, just over the fence in the neighbor's yard and it was brown and smelling. Aha!
So I get dressed, walk back there, get on some boxes and look over my back fence, and sure enough, the 'huge' animal which was described as 'brown', turns out to be a poor huge possum. Not brown, but white and gray. Very dead (starting to stink) and no marking of anything that might have caused its demise. Sigh. Poor thing.
So my neighbor, whose yard has the deceased possum, isn't home so I left him a phone message. Hopefully he will come back and figure out what I was babbling. He will probably just bury it, but I suggested calling animal control, in case it had rabies or some other disease (2 possums dead in 2 months here) or if maybe someone is shooting or poisoning them. I'm leaning towards the latter, since my Outdoorsie Rags suddenly died about the same time as the first possum.
Anyway, waiting for neighbor to return to see what he wants to do. His body, not mine this time. I'm not wanting to deal with dead things right now anyway. thumbsdown
Just read all the posts. First off, I love your new bike Ana. Have fun with it. You look wonderful. kissy. Hey Soot. We're expecting snow tonight. Not as much as previously expected though. That's a relief. My one day off. I don't want to spend it in my apartment all day. We'll see.
Have a good night all. Oh Connie.... I missed the BB pancakes this morning. Maybe tomorrow morning they'll be some extra? I hope so.
Night all. See you in the morning.
