If I am not in the right place to ask this question please can you direct me to a site that I can get some information. I just upgraded to Windows 7 home edition on my computer. I was using XP home edition for a long time. My question is: how to I stop all the pop ups? Even on this site I constantly am getting annoying ads and then redirected to somewhere else. When I close that tab I loose my place ie.Gameboomers site and everything closes out. I use Moz. Firefox as my browser as I found the Explorer browser was not liked my a few sites. I would love to stop this from happening. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks...

You can get the free AdBlocker from Firefox which will help. But I would definitely run CCleaner and Malwarebytes on your computer. It sounds like you have a lot ad-trackers. Do you have any toolbars in your Firefox browser? Those things are notorious for tracking you and sending all kinds of ads your way.

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure about toolbars in my browser. What would need to do to find this information and then what do I do with it? Sorry but this new versions of Windows 7 is just not familiar to me....

But your Firefox browser will not look any different than it did in XP. If you have a toolbar, it will be at the top of the Firefox page.

Do you have CCleaner and Malwarebytes installed? That's what you should run first. I have to leave for several hours, but I'll check back in later.

Hi, yes I have CC Cleaner and Malwarebytes installed. Ran both but still have issues. What happens is when I connect to Gameboomers on the left side of my page there is a related searches area that has adventure games, free online games etc. When I close it I loose my Gameboomers page as well and am back at my desktop. I did not have this happen before with my computer when I was using XP home edition. Also I use Gamersgate to purchase games, never had issues there. Now when I try to sign in I am directed to some other site not related to them at all. I called
the computer shop that just did my Windows 7 install for me and they said I must have picked up a virus etc. I found something called
Crimsolite when I searched my Control panel/programs etc. I did not install this and looked it up on the internet and it said this is a
adware problem that can be installed on a computer without the users knowledge. It apparantly comes with other software and you may not notice anything telling you it will also be installed. You cannot uninstall it yourself and the programs I tried didn't get rid of it either. I think I will have to go back to the computer shop and pay them to try and get rid of it...Just paid for Windows 7 upgrade so not to pleased about
this now. Thanks for trying to direct me to information to help me.

I will try and see what I can find on Crimsolite, but in the mean time do everything you already tried in "safe mode". Safe mode doesn't give them a chance to load and activate. It is weird to me that if you find something in Add/Remove programs that you cant delete it. I have never heard of that before.Try that again in safe mode.

Edit: found this on Crimsolite( http://malwaretips.com/blogs/crimsolite-virus-removal/ )

What anti-virus program are you using, linda? Do make sure it is up to day and run a deep scan with it too. Like Geo says, running in Safe mode is always a good idea. But just try running it normally first. You've obviously picked something up.

This Crimsolite is often picked up with a software download you've done. Here are some instructions on removing it in case it isn't gone yet.

linda, here is a link to Firefox Support which tells how to turn on pop-up blocker in Firefox. Most of the browsers I've used have the pop-up blocker setting in their internet options settings/preference.
