I would like to upgrade my video card. I have a RADEON 9250 AGP 128.0 MB.
Thats really a low end video card. What better card can I replace it with.
Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard

You can try upgrading it with the Radeon 3650 AGP card. I was very happy with that card untill I got my new computer last year (August 2013). If you're looking for a another card, it'll have to be a card that'll fit into an AGP slot, though.

As always, make sure that your power supply is adequate for the new video card. wave

And that the new card will fit within the case.

I just put a different video card in my other pc but it won't play some games.
The card is (EVGA nVidia GeForce 6200 512MB VGA/DVI/TV-out AGP Video Card.)
My power supply is only 250 watt is this why it won't play some games. Thanks

It won't play the
Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure demo.
Another one will play but the cursor moves real slow.
Shadows of the Vatican Act 2: Wrath

Your slow video card is why you're having trouble with those games.
In order to add a faster video card, you'll have to add a better power supply with more wattage.

Most of the "new" AGP video cards available now aren't that good.
You might be able to get something like a used Nvidia 7600GT (which was a good video card for its time) to play older 3D adventure games from around 2006. But you'd still have to update the power supply.

Since Compaq makes computer cases in all different sizes, there's no way we can tell you what power supply might fit it without at least a model number to go by.

That's an old style ATX power supply -

Connectors:
1 X 20-Pin Motherboard Connector
5 X 4-Pin Molex Connectors
2 x SATA Connectors
1 X 4-Pin Motherboard Connector
2 X 4-Pin Floppy Connectors

Almost any standard ATX power supply should fit, but depending on what's wired to the cables you may have problems finding a replacement. How many of the 4 pin Molex connectors are plugged in to devices? Are the Hard drive(s) SATA or PATA?

Since it's an older PC I wouldn't spend too much upgrading it - take a look at something like this as a place to start.

RAIDMAX RX-450K Continuous 450 watts ATX 12V v2.3/EPS 12V Power Supply

Being that it's a Compaq, it's hard to say if it'll be a perfect fit.

That sounds about right, check the physical dimensions of the original PSU just to make sure the replacement will fit. I've run across problems where some manufactures have used non standard sizes.

As Jenny said, the 7600 GT is as good as you're going to get with an AGP interface. It isn't going to scream, but it will be a definite improvement.

A 9400 GT is not a very fast card (it's actually slower than the 7600 GT)
http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=435&card2=578

However if it's playing games to your satisfaction, it should still work in Windows 7.
If you want a faster card, your 475 Watt power supply should be able to support one.
Are you going to want another Geforce card or are you OK with a Radeon card?

Go to DXDIAG. Don't know what your operating system is, but it will probable work if you type it into the search box in Start.
