I sure would like to know how to keep win 7 from shuting down when I'm not using the pc. If it stays idle for a length of time it shuts down. Thanks Richard

Youve probably got it set to do that in your power options.
Go to your system tray, click on your battery icon, select More Power Options and for the currently selected power plan select Change Plan Settings. There you can decide if you want it to time out or not.

If kjos doesn't have a laptop, he will not have a battery icon. Just go to Control Panel and select the power options in System and Security.
Click on Start, click on Control Panel, click on System and Security and then Power Options. In there you can change how long before you want the monitor and hard drive to go to sleep.

No such thing as too much help. mj3c, that would have been the quickest fix if it was a laptop!
