Its only early days but that doesn't stop me reaching conclusions.
One such is that the gaming universe is starting to take note. Consider Sanitarium. An old game, yet it already has more recommendations than last year. It might drop on and off peoples recommendations for all sorts of reasons, but it is reasonable to assume that it is less likely to be added to the list of a person who didn't recommend it last year and who had already played it, than it is to be on the list of someone who hadn't played it last year. Which means that persons who hadn't played it found out about it somehow. Lighthouse is the same. Dare we presume...?? think
What else? Top 3 remains pretty much the same, and no one will as yet admit that The Scroll is a favourite. Good to see Ceremony of Innocence getting a mention, and perhaps surprising that Rama hasn't yet been. 120 games have more than one recommendation, and the game with the most votes which I haven't played is Discworld Noir.

Sanitarium's popularity may have something to do with it being rereleased in the U.S. and Canada.

Picking 15 for "general audience" recommendation is a heck of a lot easier than picking my favorite 15. Trying to cut THAT list down is like ripping my heart out.

Myst
Exile
Riven
Obsidian
Zork the Grand Inquisitor
Gabriel Knight, Sins of the Father
Gabriel Knight, Blood ofthe Sacred
Tex Murphy Pandora Directive
Dark Fall
Syberia I

Thanks once again, Flotsam!!

Good point Colpet - I didn't know that. That will teach me to conjecture blush .

But I was right about Discworld Noir laugh

I liked Rama, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone unless I knew they were OK with math and converting to and from numbering systems other than base 10.

The Twisty List isn't just a list of which games are your favorites. It's a list of games you'd recommend for a newcomer to adventure games to try.

Oh, oh, oh, oh I see a few other people voted for Post Mortem!

I love Post Mortem (yes I do think it had some flaws) but it didn't make it to the top last year, and I don't think it will this year. At least there are more people than just me who like it!

I just love it when you do this every year - it encourages me to go to my game closet & game shelves elsewhere and update my list of games I have, love/keep, started and/or yet to play and my list of games I am eagerly awaiting release......
So here is my list in alphabetical order (not in order of my favoritest):
1.The Arrival 2.Beyond Time 3.Byzantine The Betrayal 4.Callahan's Crosstime Saloon 5.The Crystal Skull 6.Dark Fall The Journal 7.Dark Side Of The Moon 8.Gast The Ghost 9.Grim Fandango 10.The Longest Journey 11.Neverhood 12.Riddle Of The Sphinx 13.Space Bar (haven't finished it yet, need to replay it on WIN95) 14.Shivers I 15.Temujin
Thanks for doing this list again this year.
Love, Betty Lou
