Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Yesterday my daughter again asked why I didn't do something useful with my time. Talking about my "doing something useful" seemed to be her favorite topic of conversation. She was "only thinking of me" and suggested I go down to the senior center and hang out with the guys. I did this and when I got home last night I decided to teach her a lesson about staying out of my business. I told her that I had joined a parachute club.
She said, "Are you nuts? You're almost 74 years old and you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" I proudly showed her that I even got a membership card.
She said to me, "Good grief, where are your glasses! This is a membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club."
"I'm in trouble again, and I don't know what to do... I signed up for five jumps a week," I told her.
She fainted!
Life as a senior citizen is not getting any easier but sometimes it can be fun.
Ban On Dihydrogen Monoxide
A freshman at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater
Idaho Falls Science Fair on January 26.
In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict
control or total elimination of the chemical 'dihydrogen monoxide'.
And for plenty of good reasons, since it can:
1. cause excessive sweating and vomiting
2. it is a major component in acid rain
3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
4. accidental inhalation can kill you
5. it contributes to erosion
6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
7. it has been found in tumours of terminal cancer patients.
He asked 150 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.
- One hundred forty-three said yes.
- Six were undecided.
- Only one knew that the chemical was... Water! (H2O)
The title of his prize winning project was, 'How Gullible Are We?' He
was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to the alarmists
practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our
environment. The conclusion is obvious.
Good morning all.
Taking a quick break. Doing laundry and giving our bedroom a thorough cleaning. We are getting a new mattress tomorrow. Don't want those Corgi bunnies under the bed. lol
It is another beautiful day. In the 70's. Yesterday it got up to 86. Wow.
Susie is beginning to feel better. Dr. has her on enzymes for her pancreatites and it seems to be helping. She will see her doctor on Tuesday.
Gotta go back to cleaning the bedroom. We have louvered closet doors and they are a real pain to dust. Yuck.
Good morning boomies! I am off to run the dogs, then meeting Sam for a quick shopping trip. Peter's bestie, Suzy, invited hubby and I out to a Brazilian steakhouse for a surprise congratulatory dinner for Peter tonight. He started work last Monday as a surveyor for Local 150 Operating Engineers. He will be working on the Chicago airport expansions here. He is loving his new job!
Have a happy day all!
For Bets: Louvered door cleaning. If you have a vacuum with a hose and 'brush' attachment, just use that to dust the louvers. Suction picks up all the dust as you go and the small rounded brush gets into those pesky corners. I have 3 sets of louvers and I love my vacuum method. Good luck.
Need to go shopping for FOOD. Don't feel like it. It's Friday, all the sales are on and there will be loads of people being unfriendly and playing demolition derby in the parking lots. Phooey! Gotta get food.
All Outdoorsies accounted for (including the interloper) and down the block, where a new family just moved in over the past 2 weeks, I heard DOGS barking. Little yappy ones. Now I'm thinking maybe they are the ones who lost that cute doggie yesterday, but nobody came looking or calling for a dog. I'm actually thinking it was the guy in the expensive truck who pulled up next door and never got out of his truck for 15 minutes. Then just as animal control arrived, he drove off. Possibly he dumped the dog and wanted to see what was going to happen to it. I will check the animal control website today to see if the dog is on line yet. They post pictures of found animals and those for adoption. Hope she finds her owner. Too cute.
Fantastic Friday ya'll puppy
We had a long night..Seagy was sick most of it so we were up and down and up and down. Whisked her off to my vet first thing and they gave her some shots and subcutaneous fluids...trying to avoid having her hospitalized again. My vet thinks we are done with chemo, as we are now thinking that her sickness last time was due to chemo (which was what I thought then but the AU vet said no) and not to pancreatitis, or perhaps a combination of the two. Big sigh! So, we will fight this fight again, and hope we can get her back to eating and feeling herself.
I'm going to cook books and perhaps take the other 3 doggies for a walk when son (picking up boys) gets back with my car. It's a gorgeous day out there...cool and sunny!
Connie, big hugs to you! Do indeed celebrate the great memories I know you have.
Gail, let us know what you think about the movie.
Bets, I'm glad to hear there is some improvement for Susie. What kind of mattress did you get? Have fun cleaning!
Ana, 'grats' to Peter! That sounds like a wonderful opportunity!
I hope everybody's pets heal up -they are our friends, they give us alot. ShemerBaby has healed -it's amazing how those 2 cat bites have healed. He won't need an operation on them now and he only needs his teeth cleaned then he's all patched up. Now patch up the check book.
Oh My what's for supper???? Maybe good intenshons.
Took a ride in the country and through the woods -this is a beautiful time in south central TX. All new green, vibrant. Then picked up my high cholesterol meds.
Good ol' Friday night. I've never felt guilty staying up veeery late playing games. A left over from when I worked probably. Retirement permits one day to kinda melt into the next.
Happy F. all
