The top solution does work. I suspect that Geo has the default setting of hiding registered extensions. This would have hidden the ".txt" extension, so the name of the file after renaming would have been "Desktop(create shortcut).Desklink.txt" instead of the required "Desktop(create shortcut).Desklink". If the actual extension is "Desklink", then the displayed icon will change from Notepad to the monitor icon.
The one created when a profile is created has the string "desktop" in the file, but this does not seem to be required.
