I'm still getting used to how this game works, navigation, conversations, use of inventory, etc. It seems pretty confusing trying to move around from scene to scene. I know about the "H" key, to show scene exits, but it still trips me up. It is early days.

I am finally at work, have talked to everyone, and now I need to leave (to buy lunch for the programmer nerd). I can't leave without getting the boss yelling and stopping me. I looked up the WT and it says he'll eventually offer me some additional time off if I talk with him long enough, but this option does not come up in the dialogue options. I've run through that scene three times now, listening to the guy pontificate (whew!) over and over, my guy always saying I have another question, but he never gets the option to ask for more time nd the boss never offers. Any ideas how I get him the time off so he can leave the building?

Hi Reenie,

The dialogue trees in this game can be really tricky. New lines can appear as branches from old lines, and it can get a bit woozy at times.

Here's a YouTube clip that covers the dialogue with Martin's boss. The line comes in at around 16min 20sec, but you'll probably want to start watching a few minutes before that so you can see how it reaches that point.

Moment of Silence

Thanks so much! That branch of dialogue never showed up for me, but now I see how I can reach it. Hopefully.

This game is intriguing, but is starting out WAY too "talky" for my taste. Did other people have the same reaction? I mean, I would like to get on with things, but keep being faced with these long, obligatory conversations. This one with the boss stopped me cold for almost an hour, and one mistake in the "tree" sends you go down a dead end for good. ha ha I wonder, does the game continue in this style?

Yes, the level of dialogue remains pretty constant throughout. Perhaps the beginning is a little more intensive as it sets up the story. But there was one scene with a guy in a computer hardware shop that nearly drove me round the twist. lol It went on for days. But the storyline is so engaging that the game is worth sticking with. I hope it doesn't bug you too much and that you enjoy what it has to offer. laugh

It is an intriguing story line, and I like that it starts out with the guy totally in the dark, as it would in real life. I suppose it is equally realistic in terms of the endless conversations. LOL Hopefully, these long dialogues will be interspersed with enough action and "adventure" to maintain my interest.

I have another question, Rushes. I am back at this game after a hiatus. My guy got mugged and he is trying to get his Messenger (PDA) back from a young kid at the Nuclear Cafe on the Lower East Side.

After the usual interminable conversation tree, the kid finally agrees to give it back and says it is on the table. I can't find it. I even looked up the WT and it says that it is on the table that is "in the middle of the room." That is sufficiently vague as to be unhelpful. I have searched every table in the room without discovering any hot spots related to my Messenger.

I know it has been a while, but can you recall anything more helpful about this scene?

Looking at the walkthrough, it says:

Quote:
Talk to Lou, the man until you get your messenger. Take the messenger in front of a computer on the table behind you. The table is the one at the center of the room.

Maybe that will help you locate it? wave

Yep, I did talk to Lou and he has relinquished it, verbally, telling me it is "on the table." I can't find it on any table. Must be a pretty small pixel. LOL I've heard this was a problem for other people, so I am just being patient with it.

Another walkthrough says that the messenger is "in front of the red monitor on the table". Can you see a red monitor?

Oh, this is great, Mag! Thanks. I'm having to re-adjust my thinking to look for smaller pixels in this game. Having a picture is awesome!
