You can't think yourself out of a writing block, you have to write yourself out of a thinking block.
John Rogers, Kung Fu Monkey, 06-25-11
~~~~~~~~~
Farmer John lived on a quiet rural highway. But, as time went by, the traffic slowly built up at an alarming rate. The traffic was so heavy and so fast that his chickens were being run over at a rate of three to six a day. So one day Farmer John called the sheriff's office and said, "You've got to do something about all of these people driving so fast and killing all of my chickens."
"What do you want me to do?" asked the sheriff.
"I don't care, just do something about those crazy drivers!"
So the next day he had the county workers go out and erect a sign that said: SLOW: SCHOOL CROSSING
Three days later Farmer John called the sheriff and said, "You've got to do something about these drivers. The School Crossing sign seems to make them go even faster." So, again, the sheriff sends out the county workers and they put up a new sign: SLOW: CHILDREN AT PLAY
That really sped them up. So Farmer John called and called and called every day for three weeks.
Finally, he asked the sheriff, "Your signs are doing no good. Can I put up my own sign?"
The sheriff told him, "Sure thing, put up your own sign." He was going to let Farmer John do just about anything in order to get him to stop calling everyday to complain. The sheriff got no more calls from Farmer John.
Three weeks later, curiosity got the best of the sheriff and he decided to give Farmer John a call. "How's the problem with those drivers. Did you put up your sign?"
"Oh, I sure did. And not one chicken has been killed since then. I've got to go. I'm very busy." He hung up the phone.
The sheriff was really curious now and he thought to himself, "I'd better go out there and take a look at that sign. It might be something that WE could use to slow down drivers." So the sheriff drove out to Farmer John's house, and his jaw dropped the moment he saw the sign.
It was spray-painted on a sheet of wood: NUDIST COLONY - Go slow and watch out for the chicks!
This is something we should all read at least once a week!!!!! Make sure you read to the end!!!!!!
Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio .
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
Good morning everybody. welcome
I hate to post and run, especially when it's still light outside, but the rooster crows at 3:30 for me. shocked
That rooster's been on vacation longer than I have. razz
It's so hard to go to bed and go to sleep when the sun is still up. eek
I can lay on the couch and fall asleep with the TV going full blast no problem, but taking off my clothes and getting in bed when it's daylight is something that makes my body naturally rebel against. taz
But.......not as bad as it rebels when it's has to get up at 3:30am. lol
This is rebel joe signing off. happydance
Have a happy day everyone. thumbsup
I will go to my weights class in the morning, run the dogs if they bug me and stay in the corner the rest of the time. Hopefully I can stay awake.
Have a happy day all!
Good morning my good friends.
Another beautiful day, this time with little wind, not like yesterday. Bill will take me to the eye doc this morning. It is only about 5 minutes away so he will just drop me off and I will call him when I am through. Going to get my laser surgery.
Susie sounded so much better yesterday even though she was tired. Dr. has her on enzymes though not the kind she wanted. Pharmacy is having a hard time finding what the Dr. first ordered. Then she has to find a genetic doctor who can perform a blood test. The whole thing is complicated. Did look up hereditary pancreatitis on the internet and got some information. The high iron is what is destroying her appetite so somehow they have to get her iron down and find out why it is so high. It is a waiting game now.
Guess I will go play something for a bit.
Take care everyone and have a great day.
Bets
Thumping Good Thursday ya'll lab
Tis a wee bit cool out there, but should be nice by early afternoon, so I"m hoping for a doggie walk this afternoon. That will let me finish listening to Warbreaker, and then I'll have to pick out a new book to listen to.
I started reading The Husband's Secret last night. I was on the waiting list at the library for months.
Jerky is in the dehydrator, and chicken is steaming so I can make the girl some chicken jerky. Son is at school with the Cully for an Easter event, and hubby will be home early today.
I've been up for a bit but had my usual kitchen shortstop.
Joe, I can sleep to the tv too, but when I actually try to sleep at night w/o the tv...well, that is often a different story. Have fun rebelling!
Ana, have a fun run and class.
Space, have a great day!
Haroula, wave
Cailyn, stay warm.
Gerry, have a great day!
Midgy, how's life? How is your ankle?
Gail, enjoy the walk and hope the meeting is productive.
Connie, is Fla cold too?
Manx, wave
Bets, I hope the surgery goes well and is very successful.
Darlene, happy skooshing!
May your eye heal quickly and sound. Laser eye surgery is a blessing. Lazy day -all pets sleeping and purring and it's dark but warm. So as for myself.........on to the games. Not as angry at them today as yesterday. Wish my luck and straighter shooting.
Happy Thursday all
Bets my prayers going out to you and Susie. Hope they find a solution to her problem. Hugs my friend.
Going to bed now. Busy at work.
