Identify the common letters shared by two words as represented by the dashes. Each answer will consist of two words.

Example: --[mp|ct]-- = CAmpUS and CActUS

More than one solution is possible on some answers.

-1. [hu|wa]---
-2. --[ck|st]-
-3. -[qu|ol]--
-4. --[re/as]-
-5. -----[in/ts]
-6. [mu/fu]----
-7. -[le/ro]--
-8. ---[mb/pt]--
-9. ---[ra/ns]
-10. --[ow/ee]-
-11. --[rp|zz]--
-12. --[ti|ym]---

An afterthought! In an attempt to make this puzzle a little more user-friendly...easier, I can make one of the words part of a theme such as a city name for example. In that case, a clue could be --[nd|ti]-- which would give the solver a little more than word patterns to solve the clue. Does that seem workable? Please give me your thoughts. Be nice.

Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.

Thanks, Joan smile

Bernie and Bob. You're looking for common letters that will take the place of the dashes in the clue and form two words. In the example I used this:

( )( )[mp|ct]( )( )

So I need four letters that will be able to form two words that will include the letters "mp" in one of the words and "ct" in the other. The four letter for this answer are

(C)(A)[mp|ct](U)(S) forming the words CAmpUS and CActUS

A theme might be helpful. It's hard for me to say for sure if it would help since it could be either word but I think it would.

I do like the puzzle even though I got mixed up the first time around. crazy
To make it easier for us you might change your format from:
--[re/as]-

to:
--re-/--as-

It is a bit more readable to me.

I could tell you were confused with the puzzle requirements, Bob. I like your suggestion. I'll use it on the next puzzle.

Good solves. thumbsup
