If you saw the word alchemy in the bathroom after turning on the hot water tap, then you have found the first word.

To get the second word:

Quote:
Use the sharpened letter opener on all the paintings.

Original sketch by Gustave Doré for Divine Comedy: Open the cover of the safe again.

Use the sharpened letter opener on the back of Doré's sketch.

Get an Eiffel card with cutout. It triggers a memory.

Exit to the balcony.

Click the card with cutout on the view of the Eiffel Tower. See the second word - REVOLUTION.

Exit back to the room by moving the cursor to bottom of screen and get an exit arrow.

This is how you find the second word, which is revolution.

Hi robert, you need a key in order to open the safe. I'll re-post MaG's instructions here:

Quote:
To get the key: you have to get an envelope from the desk clerk.
To get the envelope: you have to give him 2 code words.
To get the 2 code words:
- you have to work to get steam and read a word on the bathroom mirror. (The word you see is alchemy, which is the first code word).
- you have to use a cutout paper on Eiffel tower. (The word you see is revolution, which is the second code word).
Then you get the envelope and get some words that you need to know the meaning of.
- you do this by calling Henry.
- Henry gives info that you can use to deduce the location of a hiding place.
- the hiding place has the key that opens the safe.

This game seems quite tricky. Make sure that you have done all of the above. If you find the hiding place, you will get the key that opens the safe.

Robert,
The walkthrough is in the correct order.
Just follow the walkthrough starting from the arrival at the hotel.

After getting the word ALCHEMY from the bathroom, go back out of the bathroom.
Look for the sketch by Gustave Doré for Divine Comedy on the wall.
Click on it to see the back.
Use the sharpened letter opener on the back of Doré's sketch.
Get an Eiffel card with cutout. It should trigger a memory.

Then exit to the balcony.
Click the card with cutout on the view of the Eiffel Tower. See the second word - REVOLUTION.

Hi robert, I believe the sketch is on the wall where the safe is located.

Hi robert, that is a very straightforward question. The walkthrough simply says to open the diary. Did you open other items in the game by right-clicking? If so, one would think the diary would work the same way. Let's wait for advice from someone who has played this game. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your question.

When you clicked on it - did you get a memory again?

After you open the cross' secret drawer you just pick up the diary and automatically read it to get a memory.

hi Mag, i am at the meditation door and i must have gone wrong somewhere. is there any way i can check? also, why is the katana in inventory crossed out. according to the W/T, it shouldn't be there in there in the first place, i think. robert.

Be sure that you examined that door and see the decorations on it.
Use the razor on far view not close up - see if that works for you.

Hi robert, apparently it is normal that the katana is crossed out in your inventory, so no worries there. I looked at a couple of walkthroughs and one of them said that you won’t need to put the katana back; it will just be crossed out in your inventory.

Are you still stuck at the meditation door?

Did you get the hinges and the screws when you used the razor on the meditation room door?

After you saw the decorations on the door, did you step back first and then try to use the razor on the door?

Unfortunately I don't know - because I don't have a screenshot of what exactly the decorations look like.

I found a pictorial walkthrough for the game here, which might be of help to you. The link will take you to the page of the game where you are, I believe. Maybe it will be of some help. It says that you use the razor to unscrew the monster faces from the door.
