Can SOMEONE please tell me why gamers needed the Mech to fire its weapons (seemingly) at Tex?? I went through heck getting the mech battery charged and treading into the giant beehive to install it only to realize I had NO idea why it had to be done. So far, it hasn't made anything easier.

BubbaJake, I moved you to Hints because it will likely too many spoilers for discussions.

The Mech, when it fired in the beehive, opened up the way to the room that Tex needed to get into. It's behind the Mech - on fire. If you got the fire extinguisher, you put out the fire and get into the room.

Once again, I'm sorry for posting in the wrong place! I had NO idea! Thank you so much, Melia! I went back out the wrong way (naturally), but I do have the fire extinguisher! WOW. I just knew there was a logical reason for doing that in a Tex game, but I just went blank trying to do it on Gamer and trying to do what Tex suggests. Now, I have to reload and hope I end up back in the beehive.

It worked just fine. Thank you! Now, I just can't figure out how to do that next puzzle, and I'm stuck there for DAYS!

Sorry for the lag. The puzzle is right after going into the room behind the mech, that color and column puzzle. I've had all green on the right side (the part that tells you if you have it correct) and nothing happens. Thank you for the mech help.

I found this advice on another forum:

Quote:
At the bottom, you have the choice to change the colors of the column. First, do just the leftmost colors for each row. Change the color, click the up arrow. See if the combination lights up green on any row at the right. Of course, you have to change the color for the right too, but that doesn’t matter now. Once you find out which color of the left column lights up green on each row on the right, note down the sequence. For example, first row: yellow, second row: red: third: green, etc. Now, work with the right sequence of the colors on the left column. Eventually, you will find out the exact color of each row (i.e. first row: yellow/red, second row: red/yellow, and there you go). It will just be a matter to arrange them in the right order by pressing just the up/down arrows.

Thank you, Marian. I'll give this a try. I do not see the 'Up/Down arrows. I've been doing them far left to right to change the colors and look to see if I get a green bar on the far right side. I also noticed I had 4 lights on the PI rating, but now only have one light. This means my PI ranking has dropped, right?

I'm not sure what that means, as I haven't played the game yet. Hopefully another player can clue us in. smile

This is one of the puzzles I couldn't do for the life of me. I used the cheat button and skipped it. smile Good luck with it!

At least I'm not alone, Melia! Problem is, I'm playing on Gamer, so I can't skip it. I thought the fireball chamber in Pandora Directive was hard, but at least it wasn't a little, deceptive looking puzzle that made you think it would be easy. In that one, you knew you would die over and over again until you figured out the way to do the puzzle, and you could figure it out with patience. I don't even understand what Tex is saying as he explains how to do this one, and other explanations are just as baffling to me. I watched someone online do it, copied the final setup out of desperation, AND THAT DIDN'T EVEN WORK! I'm afraid I will be stuck forever and have to quit the game right here. The novel arrived, so I'll calm myself by reading that. Thank you Marian and Melia!

I have a friend who doesn't game AT ALL and SHE did the puzzle for me! This isn't the first time she's done this and it drives me crazy that I can't get her to game! She did the puzzle and wrote down most of what she had to do. She's a leftie, and I CAN'T READ HER WRITING!!! HAHAHA!! So, now I've gotten to the irritating (YEAH) timed puzzle of the spirit thingie. At least I understand what I need to do, but doing it in time is, well, you know. Been at it for a little while, but now the book has hooked me.

Are most of you guys playing in for lack of better words (casual or expert)? Looks to be a great game. Have never played a Tex Murphy before.

I think there has been a mix of both here. Gamer mode will turn off hints, so if you want more challenge, it's a good choice. If you then decide you want to play the game with more help, though, you will have to restart the game on the easier level of difficulty.
