Your companion mails you gifts other companions will like.

Oh no, I don't like this change coming in Update 3.0:
Planetary Commendations and Classic Commendations going away. What you have will be converted to Basic Commendations. That's not so bad. The bad part is all Elite and Ultra Commendations will be turned into Basic as well forcing everyone to redo the operations to reearn the Elite and Ultra. Apparently they're afraid people would horde Elite and Ultra so they can grab level 60 armor easily.

I have a looong way to go to worry about that. I just started another new character Dargriesh, a trooper (vanguard specialization) this time, and I think I have finally found one that I want to stick with. I'm only to level 10 but so far the play style seems to suit me best of the ones I've tried.

By the way...

Is this still worth doing? I wasn't too concerned about fast leveling because I want to experience the game as I go but the thought of doing more or less the same Coruscant quests for the fourth time is making me very much like the idea of getting through it 12X faster. How long does the 12X leveling last?

You have to preorder by November 2nd and the 12x is ONLY for class quests and runs until December 1st. Works best on characters already 50 or higher doing Mekab. Took my lower characters a couple of planets to level.

Thanks Guybrush. I won't worry about it. I'm well into Coruscant with Dagriesh now. I don't usually play the heavily armored guy wading into combat but for this game I am finding that I really like it.

Some selfish jerk with taunting skills is hanging around the tunnels looking for a team (mine in this case) without a tank to counter him, that has just about killed the foe needed to finish the heroic, and taunts it away so team can't kill it. One of my team mates asked his guild for help and their team followed us so with two groups the beast went down before this selfish jerk could interfere. My team reported the person, don't know if the other players did. Character is named simply "Subscriber".

I just don't understand the mentality to want to do that. A lot of effort is put into these games just to try to prevent griefing but people work just as hard to try to find a way to do it.

I'm glad you got your quest done in the end.

Aolani (Scoundrel), Casami (Powertech), Misuteri (Operative), Nekokei (Sith Marauder), Pysco (Commando) have all completed chapter 3.
Rojavon's HK-51 has reached max affection so now have one one each side maxed out.

Dagriesh (republic vanguard on Harbinger) is 22 now and has his third companion. I have let crafting get a bit behind and will catch up. I still haven't found quite the right balance between crafting and adventuring.

Does crafting get you better armor and weapons?

I took the one for making weapons (weaponstech?) and it does allow me to make weapons that are good. Because my crafting has lagged my adventuring, the weapons are not usually as good as what I can get from quests or drops. I'll let you know as I get caught up if it is much better.

There is also the option of using the variable version of a weapon and upgrade the components. I don't exactly see how that can help me though for weaponstech because I can only make one type of component and you really need to upgrade all of the types that go in the weapon to effectivey upgrade the weapon.

Mostly what I craft are barrels, hilts, mods, enhancements and armorrings for other of my characters to use. At low levels I have crafted a few armor pieces or weapons but they don't last long. To craft better stuff you need to reverse engineer items. There's only a 20% chance (in some cases only 10%) you'll learn a new schematic so it can take a lot of crafting of the same item over and over. Most of the time you get back a small amount of crafting material, and usually not the rarer ones. Green items can reverse engineer a schematic for blue items. Blue items can reverse engineer a schematic for purple (Advanced). A purple item will have the states of a blue of the next level. Example if you reverse engineer a blue level 9 mod to get the schematic for the advanced 9 mod, it will have the stats of a blue level 10 mod but be useable at level 9.

Blue items need more materials than green and purple will require some rare material.

Crafting stronghold items has driven the cost of material at the GTN up.

Most items have 1 green schematic version, one blue and one purple. There are exceptions. Green arrmor pieces can reverse engineer two blue schematics, one adding power, another adding critical hit. So if you want one and get the other keep trying.

The better crafted items take more material and time. Some top items take hours.

BTW your companion(s) will craft or gather while your offline. So send them crafting or gathering just before you quit. As you get more companions you unlock the ability to send more crafting or gathering. The maximum is 5. You get 6 companions, five from your class, plus the ship's droid. HK-51 takes companions to 7 and Treek to 8, but you can still in the end only send 5 out to work. HK-51 requires 3 quests, two flashpoints and a scavenger hunt after you reach level 50. Treek you have to buy.

Ramei my first character on The Harbinger server has completed sith inquisitor chapter 3 and reached level 55. Provably last one to do that for awhile. Servers going down later for the Shadow of Revan update, for subscribers anyway.

May as well go back to bed (I was up until servers shut down at 4am my time) as it looks to be a long update. Already found a bug, patch notes both in game launcher and on web site only display in German. Which I cant read. Just know enough to recognize its German not Frnech (which I couldn't read either).

I didn't mean to be up so late, Ramei's guild mates wanted to me to join them in Galactic Starfighter. I think I was awful. having never played it. The others hadn't for awhile and the other side all appeared to have been doing it regularly so didn't end well for us. Then one guild member and I did Section X, to make money. Got about 100K.
