So, you've received one in June? The last one issued was for the zero-day Internet Explorer vulnerability in May.

Hi Marian, No prob about moving my ihread to Glitches. Drac, I ve gotten TWO updates in June, First a package of 3 updates, and then another package of 3 a few weeks later. BTW, I do NOT have Office 2010 on my WIN XP computer.. Starcom, thanks for the link to that article. It was very intersting. I don't know if this is relevant, but the only browser I use IE for is for my AOL, otherwise I use only GOOGLE as my DEFAULT browser. Again, I don't know how much longer I WILL be getting Microsoft Updates, but time will tell. I can only tell you that I am very "comfortable" with my WIN XP machine at this time. HAPPY EVERYTHING, fellow Boomers. Sandy

Even if you have an older version of Office (back to 2007) on your computer which you never activated, you may receive updates for it. I just worked on an XP computer retrieving data and files and while I was working an update notice popped up... I checked and it was for Office 2007 which the individual had never even activated. You definitely aren't getting security updates for XP itself.
Remember I told you I hoped it might be a big Pffffft for you!

As Draclvr said it could be for 2007, the “Office 2010” was just an example, you might have downloaded way back and you don't remember downloading the Free MS Word Viewer and/or the Free MS PowerPoint viewer and/or any other Free MS offerings, all these need to be updated/patched by MS.
Another one is for the MS Net Framework 4 which includes XP and all the way up to Win7, so until MS finds a way to exclude XP from the Net Framework 4 you will get updates for this.
Hope this helps a bit more, or did I confuse the issue even more?

Instead of just guessing what these updates might be, it would be better to check the KB number of which updates were actually installed to see what they are. Only Sandy can do that. - Open Control Panel, then "Add or Remove Programs"
- On the top right, select the Show updates check box. All installed updates appear at the top of your program list.
- Check the dates the updates were installed and get the KB numbers of the ones that were just installed. It may take a while for the list to populate (on one of my computers it takes several minutes, but it eventually gets there).
- Once you have the KB numbers, list them here so we can look them up
Microsoft is still making security updates for XP, but only for companies that pay them lots and lots of money for continued support. For most people, Microsoft is still providing updates for Microsoft Security Essentials, MS Office and other MS products, and the Malicious Software Removal Tool. There was also a patch for IE, versions 6 through 11. http://steve.grc.com/2014/04/28/a-quick-mitigation-for-internet-explorers-new-0-day-vulnerability/It could be that the updates are for those, but there's only one way to find out -- check the KB numbers of the updates.

Indeed... and it's good that Sandy knows that he is definitely not receiving security updates for his XP.
