Many crossword puzzles have clues that reference word partnerships. These are generally joined by the word "and" such as "Companion of 'click'" which could result in point and click. The answers here will follow the same idea but are clued differently. Some answers may be phrases that contain more than the words ---- and ----.

-1. a conventional law-abiding course -------- & ------
-2. help commit a crime --- & ----
-3. more than expected ----- & ------
-4. rigidly adhered to without debate --- & -----
-5. not at home --- & -----
-6. a demand for money, old style ----- & -------
-7. complete destruction ---- & ----
-8. among the living ----- & -------
-9. energetic people who initiate change ------ & -------
-10. a real close result in a race --- & ----
11. make a hasty cowardly retreat --- & ---
-12. found to be reliable ----- & ----
-13. ordinary members of an organization ---- & ----
14. clean or entirely new ----- & ----
-15. family ----- & -----
16. honest and straightforward, as in business dealings ---- & ------
-17. arrogantly affecting to be powerful ---- & ------
-18. an exclamation to draw others attention to something -- & ------
-19. be subservient to someone -- -- t---- ---- & ----
-20. the crack of dawn ------ & -----

Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.
