The soundtrack of the old adventure game
Odyssey: The Search for Ulysses, composed and played by Gilles Sivilotto, can be listened to and downloaded from here:
http://gillessivilotto.bandcamp.com/album/odyssey-the-search-for-ulysses You can also pay for higher-quality versions.
Sivilotto is accompanied by Stephane Gallet on various traditional Turkish (don't tell the Greeks!
) instruments, namely ney flute and bowed and plucked tanbur (a kind of long-necked lute), Julien Levebvre on cello, and Thierry Cote on percussion.
He also composed the music for the other Cryo games
The New Adventures of the Time Machine, The Mystery of the Nautilus, China: The Forbidden City and
Hellboy.
I read some people found the warbling flute and plucked string music annoying, but I rather liked it. It's a bit in the style of fellow Cryo composer Pierre Estève I would say, but these tracks are shorter, use more synthetic, atmospheric sounds and are less wide-ranging in style. At least they convey the right mix of suspense and authenticity!
Give it a listen!
