The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has.
Will Rogers (1879 - 1935), Illiterate Digest (1924), "Helping the Girls with their Income Taxes"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You know you're a mom when...
You count the sprinkles on each kid's cupcake to make sure they're equal.
You want to take out a contract on the kid who broke your child's favorite toy and made him/her cry.
You have time to shave only one leg at a time.
You hide in the bathroom to be alone.
You child throws up, and you catch it.
Someone else's kid throws up at a party, and you keep eating.
You consider finger paint to be a controlled substance.
You mastered the art of placing large quantities of pancakes and eggs on a plate without anything touching.
Your child insists that you read Once Upon a Potty out loud in the lobby of the doctor's office, or, better yet, in the lobby of a Grand Central Station... and you do it.
You hire a sitter because you haven't been out with your husband in ages, then spend half the night talking about and checking on the kids.
You hope ketchup is a vegetable because it's the only one your child eats.
You cling to the high moral ground on toy weapons, while your child chews his toast into the shape of a gun.
You can't bear the thought of your son's first girlfriend.
You hate the thought of his wife even more.
You donate to charities in the hope that your child won't get that disease.
You find yourself cutting your husband's sandwiches into unusual shapes.
You fast-forward through the scene when the hunter shoots Bambi's mother.
You use your own saliva to clean your child's face.
You obsess when your child clings to you upon parting during his first month at school, then obsess when he skips in without looking back the second time.
You can't bear to give away baby clothes -- it's so final.
You hear your mother's voice coming out of your mouth when you say, "Not in your good clothes!"
You stop criticizing the way your mother raised you.
You read that the average five year old asks 437 questions a day and feel proud that your kid is above average.
You say at least once a day, "I'm not cut out for this job", but you know you wouldn't trade it for anything in the world...
Good morning everyone. We had a Great time yesterday. The first ride we went on we came out of looking like we took a shower with all our clothes on. The 2 little ones loved it. Dwayne and Linda walked around all day with wet socks and squissy shoes. I wore sandals. It was Hot, Hot, Hot. summer To all here and all who follow, have a Wonderful TGIF. Fantastic Friday ya'll puppy
Started the morning off with a nice Skype chat with daughter. It was 85 degrees in her room at 9 p.m. Eeeeek!
Boys should be going home this afternoon. I'm going to go collapse when they do. I think hubby and I will spend the weekend not moving..I know he is exhausted.
We finished season 4 of Justified last night, and discovered to our horror that we have to pay to watch season 5. I wonder how long I'd have to wait for it go free on Prime?
Off to feed the doggies and then the boys and I....wave
Finally. The last 3 of our notorious school board members are being sentenced this week. 2 were done on Wednesday and the last and final (the big kahuna) is today at 1 pm. All of the 16 indicted got probation, community service and a fine. One got home detention for 3 months, one got 45 days ACTUAL jail time. This guy today, who is the former Superintendent, will most likely get the heaviest sentence. We are all hoping for a significant jail time or even prison for a year maybe. He started it, he was the one pulling all the strings. Can't wait to see what the judge does. Our little friend, the one who 'blew the whistle' in the beginning, got some probation and some community service, but very light AND she is the only one who will be allowed to run for public office again and even the same school board. Dunno if she will. My friend, who is one of the 2 that were instrumental at getting the courts involved and exposing the scandal, will be there today (as they were at every court hearing). Poor gal was on TV news crying while trying to ask the judge not to be harsh on the 'whistle blower' lady. She really did more good than anyone. Courtroom was packed to overflowing with her supporters. Was very moving. Soon it will all be over and we will have a new school board in September and a new Superintendent too. The 'interim' guy (also a jerk and abuser of the position) has finally decided to listen to the screams of the public and quit effective in August. Clean slate. Maybe something will go right for once in this mixed up school district. Crossing fingers. Can't wait for this afternoon's big event!
Yea Sorta, that's good news but where's Penelope the Great. Did she show up yesterday? She has a following like an actress.
hotsky today and kits all stretched out a yard long.
Just when I bragged about winding up Wolfenstein I hit a crunch spot and can't get any farther -My hero always gets killed, the fool. Today I will replay the previous chapter and find a hidden health upgrade, which I thought wasn't necessary, and try to get by with more ammo. Then I'll have a better command.
I ordered from Amazon some more catnip toys for kits and between the heat and catnip it should be a lazy and quiet summer. They are Yeowwww! toys.
On to sudoku
Ah the elusive Penelope. She is a no-show this morning again. I'm hoping someone who really is the owner is feeding her something yummy so she doesn't need to come here to eat cat food. She showed up yesterday afternoon and stayed till exactly 8:00pm. Off she went down the driveway and around the fence and across the neighbor's yard. We get updates from the neighbor now. Real fun here. But still not here today. I'm expecting her later. She's in good shape and getting picky about the color of the grapes I put in a dish for her. Loved the red ones, shunned the green but yesterday ate only the green ones out of the dish of mixed colors. Mixed them again today. We shall see which ones disappear.
Baby raccoons again last night. Ate all the dry food, broke off a bunch of small tree branches, and completely fouled the communal water dish. I'm sure they take a bath in it since it's totally mud in the morning. Can't figure out how they get in it. It's only 8 inches across and they are twice the size of a cat. Maybe I could put a camera out there.
Dreary day. Overcast, cool, calm. Still waiting for the big sentencing of our former Superintendent. He had better get some real jail time. He deserves it. At the very least, the conviction which is a felony, will prevent him from holding any public office, and will allow our school district to revoke some of his ill gained retirement pay and bonuses and sick leave days they granted him before he pled guilty.
Yankee, always good to keep the critters tired. That's always been my philosophy with the boys (both 2 and 4 legged) though it's much harder in this hot weather. puppy
Thanks for the update -sounds like P. takes care of herself and has landed some really good people. As for the grapes does she go by color or scent? Interesting. I'm glad you take care of her.
Sooo, all day yesterday I thought it was Friday and today would be Saturday, but since it's now Friday then I must accept that tomorrow will be Saturday...
Had one big thunder boomer last eve, that brought me up out of my chair,(thought it was an auto accident) and then it poured rain for a few minutes then was gone. Today is overcast and cool; good day for indoor work or outdoor...decisions, decisions, decisions.
May it be a great Friday and start to the weekend for all.
