Thanks, Ana. From the developer Lesta, it looks like we have a story that lovers of scary and creepy games will enjoy. I'll take a look at it. wave

I really enjoyed the demo, but there are a large number of posts already on the BF forum about sound problems in the game as it progresses, so I'm a bit concerned about that. I'm waiting to see posts from folks who got through the entire game without experiencing this issue. wave

Hi, Marian!

I played (and enjoyed) the demo, but also had the sound cut out on me during a couple of the conversations. I wasn't too bothered, though, because there is "closed captioning", so we can see what the characters are saying even if we can't hear them.

That's true, Susan; at least we still know what they are saying.

It's not a game-stopping bug, which is good news; there's no real need to wait for a patch for this particular issue. wave

Hi, Marian!

I completely agree. I especially enjoyed the interactive HO scenes, and the storyline is intriguing.

There's a HOG scene in a car that I thought was very well done.

I went ahead and got the game; with the sale going on, I saved a few dollars. It's a fun way to pass the time this weekend. wave

Hi, Marian!

GMTA because I also picked it up in the sale. I've only come across 2 HO scenes so far, but they were both well done with puzzles to solve. Gee, we certainly have come a long way from strictly HO scenes, limited hints and a puzzle at the end.

Oh good, now we can compare notes. smile

This game is SO close to being adventure lite; there are very few HOG scenes and they are all well done.

I still have no technical problems except for the voices disappearing, and I hope that will be the case for you too. wave

Hi, Marian!

I played for about an hour last night and, other than the voices in the cut scenes disappearing or being out of sync, I also haven't experienced any other problems.

I'm really enjoying it!

I've been hesitant because of glitch reports on BFG forum. IMO, a CE shouldn't be offered with such a glitch, even if it doesn't effect gameplay. And it seems the sound glitch is pretty universal. Hoping for a fix since so many GB's are enjoying the game. If an update doesn't happen, I'll wait for the standard version.

I have so many CE's yet to play that I think I'll be okay. dance rotfl

I would agree with your decision to wait on this one, Sparkle. Even though I am enjoying the game, this sound problem is a major bug and surely there will have to be an update. wave

EDIT: One of the mods on the BF forum has posted that a fix is being worked on.

An update has been released for the game, which reads as follows:

Quote:

Hello Everyone,

A new version of Fright Collector's Edition is now available on the website. This update includes the following fixes:

o Fixed voiceovers after the demo and frozen actors
o Replaced incorrect pictures both in strategy guide and diary

Note: If your progress has already been blocked, this update will *not* unblock your progress. We are working on resolving this, so you can continue where you left off.

But in the meantime, you can wait for the updated build that will allow you to continue or you can to start over.

If your progress has not been blocked, please install the updated version to avoid running into the progression block.

This update should show up on the left-hand side of your Big Fish Games app under 'Updates.' If you're not seeing that, just follow the steps below:

1) Open your app and make sure you're signed into your account.
2) Click on the 'Options' COG on the top right-hand side of your screen.
3) Click on the 'Downloads' tab.
4) Select 'Manually' and click 'Check For Updates.'

If you are still running into issues after installing that update, please contact our Tech Support Team so we can look into those.

Hi, Marian!

Thanks for the info on the update. I finished the game last night, but may install the update and play it again because I thoroughly enjoyed the interactive HOs, puzzles and storyline.

It was an excellent game, but why do the developers believe that 4-1/2 hours of game play is sufficient for a CE? The main game took me 3 hours, and the bonus game took me another 90 minutes. I'm currently doing the jigsaw puzzles in the bonus section.

I still haven't picked up the new "Dark Parables" yet, so I'm gonna wait to see what the savings will be in the July 4th sale, which I'm sure BFG will have next weekend lol !

I finished the main game without voiceovers and then decided to wait for the update to play the bonus chapter, so I will download the new build now. I agree with you that the main game was a bit short, although it sounds like the bonus chapter has a pretty good length and I look forward to playing it. The game definitely kept me entertained.

And it does seem almost a certainty that Big Fish will have a Fourth of July sale. yes

Hi, Marian!

I downloaded the patch and replayed with sound. If possible, I enjoyed it even more, although it did nothing to increase the length lol !

BFG has a sale on today, but I think they'll do much better to celebrate the Fourth of July, so I'll wait until Friday. If not, I'll use my 2 Game Club credits to pick up the newest Dark Parables game.

I'm going to replay it too, Susan. I know I will enjoy it more with sound, and it would appear that they have fixed that particular problem; thanks for that confirmation. thumbsup

It's a nice sale today, but I too am going to hold out until the weekend, just to see what might be on offer at that time.

So, what you are going to play between now and then? smile

Hi, Marian!

I decided to hang onto my 2 Game Club credits and picked up the new "Dark Parables" in today's sale (it's downloading right now). I'm sure there will be other good games between now and Sunday that I can buy in the Fourth of July sale (I will be shocked if there isn't one).

Aren't we overdue for a new "PuppetShow", or has the series ended?

Hi, Marian!

I Googled "PuppetShow" and discovered that the 6th installment (titled "Steam Heart", unless that changes) was sent out to some BFG members for beta testing the last week of May (3 testers posted YouTube videos), so it should probably be released shortly.

I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying Fright Collector's Edition. It has all my favourite elements, including live actors, very few HOGS and interesting puzzles - all in all the best game I've played in a long time.

I was really enjoying this game till I got stuck - been stuck since yesterday - It must be something I am doing wrong. The Strategy Guide says "Return to second floor of the house and then walk left. Place the jack under the bookcase and turn the crank".

When I go up the stair to the second floor, there is no option to turn left. I can place the cursor on Mrs Henderson's door on the left and the game says "Now I just need some way of getting this letter to Mrs. Henderson." So I am very confused because I thought I had made the letter into a paper plane and thrown it at Mrs Henderson's window?? Meanwhile I can't progress further into the game.

I remember that this happened to me, too, the exact same situation that you are describing. Unfortunately, now I can't remember what I did that got the game moving again. slapforehead

I will think about it, and maybe someone else will come along who has a better memory than I do.

I don't know how I missed this game. Used the free game code that BF sent me. one of the games that I bought kept getting a error message. So I got the
ce game free. Just started playing it so I will let you know if I get stuck. Thanks

It's good that you got the game now rather than when it was released; at the time, everyone had a problem with the voice-overs disappearing, but now with the new build that problem has been resolved. I hope you enjoy it. wave

Sorted Marian - Someone told me to look at the Hint Guide - Said I did not have it as an option - so changed the difficulty to Easy and the Hints appeared. It said I had to summon Mrs Henderson from the cornfield. Now I know full well that I have already summoned her, but I did it again and this allowed me to enter the bedroom on the second floor, and proceed with the game. A couple of other weird things have happened while playing this game. Onwards and upwards .......

I am very glad to hear that - now that you have told me about this, I remember wandering around and ending up summoning Mrs. Henderson from the cornfield.

I guess the game is still a bit glitchy, but there was nothing that made it so that I couldn't play through the main game as well as the bonus chapter. wave

I agree with you, Susie. That sounds like a pretty short time for a CE version!

Hi, Reenie!

Some games are longer than others, but I felt that 3 hours for the main game was just way too short. It really is a shame because, otherwise, it was an excellent game.

I'd wait for a half-price sale and then pick it up. smile

Hi, Marian!

LOL! Paying half price for half a game definitely makes sense lol ! Some games seem to go on forever because, just when you think they're over, other locations are revealed. This one was just the opposite.

That's all very true. And I would still rather play a shorter game that holds my interest throughout than a longer one where I start to get bored. smile
