Oh boy, the store closed at 8:00 Sunday. I was scheduled from 12 to 9, but we had a truck to unload afterward, because we have no unloaders, so it was 10:30 when I got out of there.


I was starving when I got home and immediately cooked 3 eggs, 3 pieces of toast, & 7 pieces of bacon. YUMMY!!

Penelope was a no show all day yesterday. Still not here. Maybe the 'owners' finally contained her or she found better digs. Dunno.

Outdoorsie cats are fighting each other for breakfast. Not the usual thing. All skittish and weird. One even got a claw hooked into the leg of another and they just had a stand off until the claw released. Ohhhhh. Must be something 'in the air'.

Dreary out but it's 'collect the rent day' so all will be sunshine any time now.

It is going to be a hot one today. 96. Been shoveling mulch the past few days. One load today and that is all. Don't need to be out in that heat.

So I'm figuring Penelope is gone and then my renter comes to pay the rent and Voila!, just as she is asking where the bird is, Penelope comes walking around my car. Dunno where she came from since the driveway alarms didn't go off and we heard no fluttering of wings. Maybe she was under the car? Weird. Just appeared out of nowhere and is happily sitting on my roof again. Fed her a few blueberries and grapes but she wasn't really hungry. She's baaaack. Neighborhood Peacock. Yup.

You know what Penelope is giving you -memories. When you're my age (old) and nothing to do all day but sleep, game, eat red grapes and remember your Penelope. Maybe she's giving you a runaround to. She sounds very smart. Tell the princess that green grapes aren't as tasty as the red ones....how about those wonderful big purple ones, they're good. Good she's back home.

Just for today I've tossed my vegge diet out the window as I'm making chili, New York state style, with green peppers and kidney beans. I should make Itallian bread with it but won't instead I'll play Killzone 4 again. I do like the Killzone series and when I get the proper adapters I'll connect play station 2 and 3 to this new TV so I can play all those games and Snoopy vs the Red Baron too.

I have done very little today. I fixed a dysfunctional light switch in the bathroom, and put a towel rack and TP holder back up, then went to Walmart for groceries.

I also put up a new shower rod and curtain.

Oh Yankee, I've got my Mom's Eastern Chili recipe that she made since I can remember. Kidney beans, peppers, canned 'smushed' tomatoes, lots of ground beef, and all sorts of other goodies. I think she got it from an Aunt way back in the 30's.

Yep, memories for my old age. Penelope and all the other critters sure keep me busy. Oh and there a are kittens way down back behind the neighbor's barn. I won't be making friends. They probably belong to a cat on an adjoining street. Lots of strays around here. I'm pretty sure they won't attempt to enter the domain of MY cats. Still, the little guy I saw scurrying from the brush towards the barn was awfully cute with his little, still pointy, tail. Only saw one, but I'm guessing there are more. Life goes on.

Home from the vet just in time. Storms just hit that area, moving our way. Miss Seagy got a good report. Then home to chat with daughter for a sec on her way to work. Feel like a wet noodle!
