I'm giving this game another try - downloaded the newest version that has some of the bugs fixed. I'm at the morgue, in the mens room after finding the headless corpse. (BTW, I'm following Len Green's WT, and everything has worked perfectly up to now.) The WT says to use the DNA scanner on the bloody robe, but Jake keeps saying the blood is dried and the scanner won't work.

I've tried every action icon on the robe; Jake looks at it, tries the scanner; it won't work, picks the robe up, says it's too big and puts it back. Will I be stuck in the game if I can't scan the robe?

I'm hoping someone out there will remember this game and might have a suggestion for me???

While waiting for other Pleughburg bets, I will send an SOS to Len Green so that he can give some input!!

Thanks, MaG. The newest version is 1.3, while the WT was written for 1.2, and I don't know if there are any subtle differences in the story line. I was able to go ahead in the story, and did get past the computer hang-up that froze my game when I tried to play it last year. This is a fun game and I'm looking forward to finishing it this time.

It's been a long time since I played it ... memory, never marvellous, deteriorating with considerable age! frown
I wouldn't like to swear to it, but I have a feeling that the newest version primarily corrects various bugs/quirks but not the basic gameplay.
I'm rather surprised that you can't scan the bloody robe (swearing permitted here?? laugh ). I seem to remember that there was some issue here ... maybe that's been cut out? If not, you *may* drop a point or two. I doubt this will cause you to get stuck later on.

I'm going to send a link of this post NOW to Chrille Blomqvist who made the game & is always very good at helping with queries.
I would guess that you'll get definitive answers from the horse's mouth ... some horse eh! lol

This sounds odd, I tried this myself just before I released the latest version and it worked fine. Perhaps you're accidently clicking the trail of blood just below the robe? smile

Thanks, Chrille, I'll try again, but I did point that scanner just about everywhere; also had Jake move closer, sideways, everyway but upside down. All he says is "That won't do any good. The blood is too dry and the scanner won't work on non-liquid substances." I even tried scanning in the close-up, to no avail. However, I did find a very strange note in the pocket not mentioned in the WT ?????

I finally got the robe scanned. I had to move Jake to one side of the door, point the scanner at the bottom of the door (not on the robe) and that causes Jake to kneel down and scan the blood on the robe. This also opens new lines of dialog when Jake gets back to the PDA and reports to his boss. I'm really enjoying this game!

Now I'm stuck in the Mayor's Office in City Hall in Day2. I've found, and read the note on the floor; the WT says to copy it into my inventory notebook, but I can't get Jake to do that. I've tried combining the pencil and notebook (which doesn't seem to work), and using both separately, but Jake just says that won't do any good. I also tried the camera, but no luck with that either, and Jake won't leave the office until he gets his copy. Any suggestions?

Never mind, I got the job done! Jake just doesn't seem to realize that he has a use for his notebook until he's at the door.
