Just a heads up for anyone considering purchasing this game - if you are running Avast antivirus, it is going to tell you that Dead Reckoning is a threat and will give you trouble when trying to install it; this I am sure is a false positive, and Big Fish is looking into this now. The problem will be corrected, but if you have Avast, you should probably hold off on purchasing the game until the problem is resolved. wave

A Big Fish mod said they were looking into the problem, and Avast is good at addressing problems quickly. Hopefully the fix won't take too long. wave

To those of you reading this thread, I sent Richard instructions via private message for a workaround for the Avast problem. I didn't post them here because I didn't want to clutter up the thread with techie stuff. If anyone else needs these instructions, feel free to send me a private message about it. The official fix should be along soon, though.

Richard, you are most welcome. I knew how to do this a while back, but I had forgotten the details; someone on the Big Fish forums refreshed my memory. smile

Glad you can get on with the game now. thumbsup

Hi, Marian!

I played the demo and really enjoyed it, so I'm gonna pick it up. I have "Norton AntiVirus" and, so far, Norton is playing nice with the game, so I don't think I'll have any problems in that regard.

I just finished the game and enjoyed it thoroughly. I played on the easiest level and so the puzzles were quite do-able once i figured them out. I also finished the bonus game which was very good too. It is a fun detective one and has lots of different types of hidden object searches and keeps things fresh and not in the least boring.

I am so excited to have a game without a paranormal theme. This looks fun. I hope it's successful to spawn more themes like whodunits. I am downloading this and playing after kickboxing class. happydance

Do take the time to read the credits at the end of the main game, BRILLIANT!!!! rotfl rotfl
This game is awesome! Great graphics, interesting story, enjoyable puzzles. There's so much to do including finding stars and the morphing objects in the HOPs. Tomorrow I'll play the Bonus Game.
Looking forward to the next in the series. Hoping it won't be too long a wait. smile

This one purports to have a deductive feature involving questioning suspects in a murder. I've played one or two games (casual and otherwise), that were way too talky to be fun over the long haul. You have to winkle your way down numerous conversation trees, trying to sniff out the right path, and if you got something wrong, you had to start over -- and that is if you even caught on that you'd gotten something wrong. That sort of thing can get old quickly. LOL So, I'm wondering if someone can give me a bit more of a sense of what this game is like than the game designer's blurb did?

Hi Reenie, the game plays pretty much like other Eipix games you have played. There is some dialogue with characters but it doesn't go on all that long and really doesn't interrupt the flow of the game. There is also an evidence board, but this too is not time consuming and really just adds to the "feel" of the game rather than adding a lot of busywork. I would say that the HOP/puzzle/use-inventory ratio is about the same as other recent Eipix games, as well. wave

Hi, Marian!

I agree with your assessment. If memory serves me correctly, didn't we have to locate HO items while we were interrogating the suspects?

My only complaint was that the game was way too short but, other than that, it was an excellent game.

Susan

I'm fuzzy on the details, but I think you had to click on certain things on the screen when you were questioning suspects. And I think there was a camera (?) or something in a few screens, where you had to click on potential evidence. Mainly I remember that none of this took up much time. smile

Hi, Marian!

I don't know about you, but I play so many casual games with similar storylines that they all seem to run together and I get confused which is which lol ! I think in this game, while you are interrogating the suspects, you have to click on the items you're asking about (e.g. if you asking about jewelery, you have to click on the person's bracelet or necklace).

I just can't get over how far the HO games have come in the past year or so. I never used to enjoy the monotonous HO scenes, but now most of them are interactive so they're actually fun. It's also great that we sometimes have the option to switch to a Match 3, Dominoes, Jigsaw Puzzle or Bubble Burst game if we're having trouble finding that last elusive HO.

That's what I remember about Dead Reckoning too. smile

I agree that many of the HOP scenes now are much more interesting than they used to be. And I enjoy the HOP alternatives that you mentioned above. happydance
