You know you're getting old when the optometrist says "I'm sorry to have to bring up the B word" upon seing your date of birth on the paper work. After the examination he confirmed it....I now wear bifocals. They were all right driving, its getting use them sitting in front of the computer that's tricky.

I have waveless...did not take long to get used to. I do however have a pair of reading glasses the I find much better to wear when I read.

Getting old can be tough. I'm still using reading glasses but I know my time is coming. I hate even having to carry my glasses around. Trying to read the phone book has become tough even with the readers. I did see a good bumper sticker today. It said " I might be old but I got to see all the cool bands."
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Wait until you get trifocals, it's a ball getting used to.

Mine are those progressive (waveless?) trifocals. And dummy me. I picked them up on my lunch hour and while driving back to work I got very very sick, green sick so I drove home and called in sick for the rest of the day. All the while thinking it isn't a great job anyway so it doesn't matter if they fire me. They didn't and the next morning everything A-OK.

I use the old method. One pair of glasses for distance and another for close up. Works great. I buy the 'over the counter ones' and keep several in the spots I need them (car, computer, TV). So easy for me. Doc says the ones I had when I had my checkup were EXACTLY the right prescription so no need to buy expensive ones at the office. Wow. I did good. Cheap and useful if you don't mind taking one pair off and another on for a few moments. OR better yet, if something is very very tiny, I just put the close up glasses OVER the other ones and get major magnification. Works, but looks really stupid. As long as I can see, I don't care.
