I detest life-insurance agents; they always argue that I shall some day die, which is not so.
Stephen Leacock (1869 - 1944)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are excuse notes that school secretaries have actually received. Some of these were in an article in the Detroit News back in the 1970s.
“Please excuse John for being absent Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and 33.”
“Ralph was absent yesterday because of a sour throat.”
“Please excuse Joey Friday. He had loose vowels.”
“Please excuse Joyce from jim today.”
“Please excuse Roland from P.E. for a few days. He fell out of a tree and misplaced his hip.”
“Karl was hit yesterday playing football. He was hurt in the growing part.”
“John was absent yesterday because he had a stomach.”
“Please excuse Gloria. She has been sick and under the doctor.”
“Please excuse Sarah from being absent yesterday. She was sick and I had her shot.”
Please excuse Jennifer for missing school yesterday. We forgot to get the Sunday paper off the porch, and when we found it Monday, we thought it was Sunday.
Sally won’t be in school a week from Friday. We have to attend her funeral.
My daughter was absent yesterday because she was tired. She spent a weekend with the Marines.
Please excuse Jason for being absent yesterday. He had a cold and could not breed well.
Please excuse Mary for being absent yesterday. She was in bed with gramps
Maryann was absent December 11-16, because she had a fever, sore throat, headache and upset stomach. Her sister was also sick, fever and sore throat, her brother had a low grade fever and ached all over. I wasn’t the best either, sore throat and fever. There must be something going around, her father even got hot last night.
“Please excuse Johnny for being. It was his father’s fault.”
A first grade teacher collected well known proverbs. For a quiz, she gave each child in her class the first half of a proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb.
It’s hard to believe these were actually done by first grade kids (6 or 7 year-olds)!
* Strike while the ………insect is close.
* Never underestimate the power of…………ants.
* Don’t bite the hand that………………..looks dirty.
* Better to be safe than…………….punch a grade 7 boy.
Gah! Computer 'repairs' failed miserably. Back on my OLD HP Pavilion 761C. Oh joy. Must say though, it's working BETTER than the one that failed. I'm giving 'custody' of that one to my computer friend who built it and is trying to make it work. Might be the motherboard. He will sort it out.
At least I'm back on line. Had no internet or anything for an entire day and it drove me nuts, especially when I saw FIRES in Washington state and my sister ended up driving through or around them for hours trying to get her daughter to the airport and then get home again. Was a 2 hour trip that took 5 hours. Fun. They are all OK.
Today will reconstruct all my missing stuff that was on my other computer and see where I go now. Too much stress when a computer fails. Hate that.
Neighbors across the street (the ones who hate me) came home with 'grandma' last week, who seems to be in some sort of medical condition and gets picked up and delivered on a weird schedule. Never know when she's there. They don't seem to 'include' her in much.
They also came home with a PUPPY. Yep, just what they needed in a small 600 square foot house, with 3 adults now, and 3 teen girls and a cat. Now the new puppy which is so tiny. Looks like a doberman or rottweiler. I'm going with doberman. Can't imagine how they will all live together since the kids do NOTHING around the house or yard, mom is working long hours, so is dad and the puppy will require a load of attention. I feel bad for the puppy. Hope it doesn't grow up to be a bad dog due to lack of attention. lab
Hi all , may everything go well with G'Boomers today and that's my post because I'm taking a tip from the cats and sleep or game -probably the latter. some good strong Irish coffee might help too.
Hey everybody. wave
I got off work later than planned, and came home and ate dinner. Then was playing with Baby and saw she was crawling with fleas.........again. mad
I treated her with flea killer and killed them all, then I put her in the shower and gave her a good bath, and then I took her out and treated her with flea spray. puppy
Does anybody know a real good flea repellent? I get the Hearts stuff at Walmart and treat her but it doesn't seam to last long. duh
I've gotta treat the yard again for fleas and ticks, but Baby just goes outside the yard to the pasture. lab
At any rate she is a clean puppy tonight. bravo
I was scheduled to get off at 4:00, but the kid who was scheduled to close did not show up at 3:00, and I could not leave early, as I had planned, and in fact, I didn't escape until 4:30. hardwall
But, I am home now, and all is well. thumbsup
To those who suggested I become a manager at Lowe's, thank you very much, but that is the last thing in the world I would want. Management at Lowe's is an invitation to be used and abused. It's a one way ticket out. Most of the managers that I've had at Lowe's are no longer working there. I don't want the hours, or the responsibility, and besides that, I make as much money as most of them. wink
Joe, I use Frontline Plus once a month on the dogs. It takes care of fleas, ticks and lice.
I kind of thought that is why you don't want to be a manager. It's like that at a lot of places.
It comes in a single use tube and you place it between their shoulder blades once a month. They swim with it and run through the woods and I have never had a problem. puppy
We get food grade diatomaceous earth from the vet to sprinkle on the carpet and bedding. Works great. It's not toxic at all, but you don't want to breathe it and I always wear gloves because it dries out my skin.
