Why will Post Mortem play on Win7 (2002) but Still Life (2005) won't?? #968428

I have these 2 games, and I would love to play Still Life on my Win7 PC, but it won't even load! Post Mortem plays like a charm. Is this just me or am I getting something confused? I REALLY want to play Still Life in comfort on the newer PC and not in the creepy family room, alone... Is there something I can do to get the more recent Still Life to play?

The disc version of Still Life was sold with the evil StarForce v3 on it.
You're going to need a NoCD if you're using the disc version.

You may also have to set compatibility mode on Still Life to Windows NT 4.0.

Installing the Vista patch also helped get the game running for some people.

GOG has Still Life which will run on Windows 7 for $9.99. Nice thing is that is scrubbed free of StarForce.

steam version runs fine also, but I would say a bit expensive for $10 I would buy it from steam for the $2.50 each for 1 & 2

PLUMGAS and others,I got Still Life from STEAM for $2.49. $2.49!! It's playing flawlessly and I can't say if it's Starforce free or not, but it's electrifying to be playing again!

Marian, I did get the VISTA patch download FINALLY and will still give it a try because I believe in you. I will give it a try and let you know what happens.!

There is no downloadable game that uses disc-based StarForce.
There is no disc.
The type of StarForce that uses online authentication is nothing like the disc-based StarForce and is much the same as any other type of online authentication.

I don't understand what you mean by 'No downloadable game that uses disc-based Staaforce'.

Disc-based Starforce only comes on physical CDs as a means of copy protection. Downnloadable games have other methods of verification/authentication.

The Vista patch may work for you, but I think your best best is to use/run the NoCD crack for Still Life on Windows 7 - that should fix your problem.
