I had to replace my hard drive and that meant reinstalling Divinity: Original Sin. I get this error message and I don't know what it means: dsdx9_43.dll missing try reinstalling your game. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times with no luck. I am running this game under Win 7. I have all the maximum requirements for the game and I have checked to see if all the hardware is running properly. I'm lost.
Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Try installing DirectX 9.0c. Since your hard drive is new, you may not have had it install with another game yet.

I removed this post because it was too long and not helpful to the solution of my problem.

Try the full install instead of the net install. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=19743

Should I extract these files to C:/Windows/System32?

Copying files doesn't change registry settings.
It's better to get DirectX to install them.

The online updater that I linked to may not have downloaded files fast enough to suit the installer and may have timed out.

Try what Collector suggested -- download the standalone installer and run that.

It may be that the standalone installer has all the files necessary for the game.

If it doesn't, try running the online updater again. It has a better chance of succeeding if you already have DirectX 9.0c installed and all it has to do is add a few files rather than download the whole thing.

I only have DirectX 11 on my system and when I run the full installer that Collector has given me (extracting the files from that to a temporary location and then running the set up application) I get an internal system error. It tells me to look at the DX error log, but I can't find it.
Would it be better to just do a clean reformat of the hard drive and start over? I had back up my hard drive completely and replaced all the files from the old hard drive to this one. Could be something was corrupted in the process. I've never had this happen before though.

For anyone that has the missing .dll files for DirectX 9, this is what worked for me and it was easy to do. Thank you GOG and thanks to Jenny and Collector. I really appreciate it.:

Please check your system files for corruption:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

Afterwards install system updates and the June 2010 DirectX runtime package, then use the DirectX web installer.

You can find the archive file containing the 2010 package installation files here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

You will have to extract the files into some folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation.

Afterwards, download the latest DirectX web installer and use it as well:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

If the issue persists, you will need to contact Microsoft Support:
http://support.microsoft.com/
or try the community support:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us

Genoan
