I have never met a man so ignorant that I couldn't learn something from him.
Galileo Galilei (1564 - 1642)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A woman goes to the doctor all black and blue ...
Doctor: "What happened?"
Woman: "Doctor, I don't know what to do. Every time my husband comes home drunk on Bud Light he beats me to a pulp."
Doctor: "I have a real good remedy for that. When your husband comes home drunk on Bud Light, just take a glass of sweet tea and start swishing it in your mouth but don't swallow. Just keep swishing and swishing until he goes to bed in his Bud Light stupor."
Two weeks later the woman comes back to the doctor looking fresh and reborn.
Woman: "Doctor, that was a brilliant idea. Every time my husband came home drunk on Bud Light, I swished with sweet tea. I swished and swished,and he didn't touch me!"
Doctor: "You see how much keeping your mouth shut helps?"
A sign was hung in an office window. It read:
Help wanted.
Must type 70 words a minute.
Must be computer literate.
Must be bilingual.
An equal opportunity employer.
A dog was ambling down the street and saw the sign. He looked at it for a moment, pulled it down with his mouth, and walked into the manager's office, making it clear he wished to apply for the job.
The office manager laughed and said, "I can't hire a dog for this job."
The dog pointed to the line: "An equal opportunity employer."
So the manager said, "OK, take this letter and type it." The dog went off to the word processor and returned a minute later with the finished letter, perfectly formatted.
The manager said, "Alright, here's a problem. Write a computer program for it and run it."
Fifteen minutes later, the dog came back with the correct answer.
The manager still wasn't convinced. "I still can't hire you for this position. You've got to be bilingual."
The dog looked up at the manager and said, "Meow."
The Hotel Bill
An elderly lady decided to give herself a big treat for her significant birthday by staying overnight in one of Chicago 's most expensive hotel.
When she checked out next morning, the desk clerk handed her a bill for $250.00.
She exploded and demanded to know why the charge was so high. "It's a nice hotel but the rooms certainly aren't worth $250.00 for just an overnight stop without even breakfast."
The clerk told her that $250.00 is the 'standard rate' so she insisted on speaking to the Manager.
The Manager appeared and forewarned by the desk clerk announced: "the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center which are available for use."
''But I didn't use them," she said.
''Well, they are here, and you could have," explained the Manager.
He went on to explain that she could also have seen one of the in-hotel shows for which the hotel is famous. "We have the best entertainers from New York , Los Angeles , and Las Vegas performing here," the Manager said.
"But I didn't go to any of those shows," she said.
Well, we have them, and you could have," the Manager replied.
No matter what amenity the Manager mentioned, she replied, "But I didn't use it!"
The Manager was unmoved, so she decided to pay, wrote a check and gave it to the Manager.
The Manager was surprised when he looked at the check. " But madam, this check is only made out for $50.00." '
'That's correct. I charged you $200.00 for sleeping with me," she replied.
"But I didn't!" exclaims the very surprised Manager.
"Well, too bad, I was here, and you could have."
Super Sunday ya'll puppy
Son is taking boys to a semi-local cave tour. Hubby and I are going to have a quiet afternoon after a very busy day yesterday. Celebrated the boys b'day..they are a week apart so did them together. wave
Happy Sunday. Nothing much happening. Just the usual 'neighborhood stuff'. No bird yet, orange cat across the street on the roof. He's probably hunting birds. Doesn't seem interested in 'dead' canned food lately. I'm sure he will wander in later.
Rained a tiny bit yesterday. Not hardly enough to went the ground, but something. Smells nice with wet dirt.
Still 'stuff' going on at the empty house. I'll report if anything drastic happens other than the massive looting which is going on almost nightly. Stupid.
Off to figure out how to fix an error message on my new computer. Something about 'group client standard user disabled'. Seems it's a corrupted file and the 'fix' is so complicated I am not going to mess with anything. Can't find the 'start..run' bar on Windows 8.1. I'm sure it's somewhere, but I'm sure 'they' don't want me to know. Duh.
Ana, that baby is adorable. I'm not sure I've ever seen a baby peacock before. What do they call baby peacocks? Pea-ettes?
How adorable. That mom peacock looks exactly like Penelope. She probably won't have babies since I don't see or hear a male but awwwww. See Yankee, it's Penelope's cousin. thumbsup
Actually, your question caused me to look it up L4L.
I learned that Penelope is not a peacock, she is a Peahen. lol A baby is just called a Peafowl.
Oh Ana! Don't let Penelope hear you call her a Peahen! She would be so mad. She thinks she's a Peacock. rotfl Sounds more regal anyway.
