For each question, drop a letter from one word to form a second. The dropped letters will spell out the answer to the last question.

-1.Start with a word meaning an earthenware jar, then subtract a letter to find yourself left with an item that might be of interest to a geologist. What letter did you drop?

-2.If you have a word describing one who wanders at large, you can subtract a letter to get a word that is synonymous with finished (or, in another sense, is the antonym of under). What letter will you be subtracting?

-3.A word referring to a deity can be formed by subtracting one letter from a word that describes a quality of beneficence that is a desirable trait. What letter is subtracted in this transformation?

-4.You may start off being damp, but if you drop a letter you can become much the greatest (even more so than the actor who portrayed Ralph Malph on the TV show 'Happy Days'). What letter do you need to discard?

-5.Be careful not to cut yourself on the adjective describing an acute edge; it can be turned into a stringed instrument by the removal of one letter. Which letter must be removed to produce this transformation?

6.A grin (of joy or of relief) might be featured on your face if you manage to cover a distance of 1.6 km fast enough to win the race. What letter must be removed to change a facial expression into the distance of race that was famously covered in under four minutes for the first time by Roger Bannister in 1954?

-7.What letter must be removed from a word describing a material you might apply to change the color of a surface, in order to change it into a word describing a volume equal to one eighth of a gallon?

-8.If you are close to me, you could describe your position by adding one letter to a body part found (in humans) on the side of the head. What letter forms the difference between these two words?

-9.This supernatural being from Norse mythology, with whom the Three Billy Goats Gruff had an encounter near a bridge, might be seen to rotate as it progresses down a nearby hill. What letter does it need to shed in order to achieve this?

10.Stringing together the letters you dropped in Questions 1 through 9 will give you a rich, flaky pastry of French origin. What is it?

wink

I change all my passwords to "incorrect". So whenever I forget, it says, "your password is incorrect".
