If you knew what I know about the power of giving, you would not let a single meal pass without sharing it in some way.

My friend Kevin got philosophical one day and was telling me how Life is a gamble. The word 'gamble' sparked off a series of quotes and thoughts. Then the topic steered to men gambling more than women.

Kevin had an explanation for women gambling less than men. He said, "Marriage gratifies their natural instinct for gambling!"

Monty Green, the enterprising partner of Monty & Dexter, a clothing company, was going through a bad phase. Caught at the wrong end of the recession, business had reached rock-bottom and there were debts to pay. The stress was dreadful and Monty Green was losing sleep over it. Though he would come home tired and worn out every day, he found it difficult to get sleep. As the days went by, getting sleep became more and more challenging.

Monty decided he had to do something about his sleep, or rather the lack of it. He made up his mind to try different remedies to get some sleep. He tried listening to soothing music and some instrumental music on the saxophone. It didn't work.

He tried taking hot shower just before bedtime but it didn't work either.

He tried exercising but that too did not work.

He tried sleeping pills but no luck.

He met his old friend Donald and told him about his problem. He asked Donald for suggestions. Donald asked him to try the oldest remedy that ever was - to count sheep jumping over a fence.

Monty said to himself, "Why didn't I think of it before. Surely, this is the most trusted remedy for lack of sleep.Need to try it out tonight."

The next morning, Monty called his friend Donald and asked if he could meet him.

When Donald arrived, he saw Monty in the same state as he had seen before. Donald commented, "Obviously it didn't work."

Monty replied, "It didn't. I started counting sheep immediately after lying down on the bed. Didn't get any sleep. But boy, did I count sheep. I counted 4500 without getting tired. Had to try something else. So I started shearing 'em. Didn't help - I was still wide awake. Not the one to give up, I dyed the wool that I had sheared. No sleep. I spun it. No sleep. I made smart jackets out of 'em. Do you have any idea how tiring this kind of work can get. I started getting sleepy. Then it all went wrong!"

Donald asked, "What went wrong??"

Monty replied, "I was awake for the rest of the night trying to figure out where to get four thousand five hundred silk linings from!"

Jim and Joe are enjoying their Sunday at the beach.

Jim complains to Joe, "I am not having a good time. The girls are not noticing me."

Joe says, "I have a solution. Why don't you put a Banana in your swim shorts. It would help."

So Jim does what he is told and complains to Joe again after some time."I did what you asked me to do but it's no good."

Joe chuckled and said, "Jim, you are supposed to put it in the front!"

Bruno loves mountain climbing, so off he goes scaling heights in the Himalayas. He is almost at the peak of the mountain, when his slips and plunges down. He falls thirty feet, when he grabs on to a bush that is protruding out of a rock.

Bruno looks shown and shudders when he sees the depth. It looks to him that death is imminent. His hands begin to slip and he starts losing his grip on the bush.

In desperation, Bruno cries out loud, "Is anyone up there who can help me?"

Just then, a voice booms from the skies, "Bruno, I am God. Have faith in me. Let go of that bush.I will protect you."

Bruno looks down at the depth again, and then looks up and says, "Is anyone else up there?"

Christopher popped the question to Lydia, his girlfriend of 4 years. "Will you marry me?"

The next thing you know is that they are married and on the way to Venice for their honeymoon.

When they are back home, Christopher gets back to normal life. One fine morning, he is cleaning his golf club and looking forward to join his buddies at the golf course, when Lydia comes to him and says, "Chris, we are married now and I think you should give up sports like golfing as it is such a waste of time!"

Christopher can't believe what he just heard, and gives her a look of disbelief.

Lydia says, Huh, did i say something wrong?"

Christopher says, "For a second, I thought that was my ex-wife talking."

Now its Lydia's turn to be shocked and she yells, "Ex wife! You never told you were married before!"

Christopher replies, "I wasn't!"

Hello Boomers, hope you are all well! hearts

Enjoying some quiet time with hubby! I spent around two weeks searching online for a nice place to have a break away. Finally found a nice guest house about 2-3 hours drive from home in a lovely part of the country. Breakfast included in price and a packed lunch supplied for the days we want to go sightseeing...lovely! We'll be away for a week, from September 12, and we are so looking forward to it!

Take care all and enjoy the rest of your day!

A lovely day today. Going to be pretty warm but I'll manage. The 'company' is still here at the tenants. Last night there were ELEVEN people sleeping there. 3 are tenants, the rest the relatives all coming from everywhere for the parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Big celebration!

So after the last big shindig down there and the hoards of guests and cars parking all over the driveway and blocking everyone and I never complained, my other tenant/friend told me I might want to put up some traffic cones to keep cars out. I considered that, but it would have been really nasty of me so this morning early, I went down while they were all milling around cooking food for tonight's bash and spoke to the son who is the tenant here.

I asked about parking and would he be in charge of making sure people didn't block the cars, etc. and he and his sisters (visitors) immediately brought out a big sign they had made that said "All visitors park outside". Ahhhhh. How nice. Terrible sign, but I had a few 'official' signs that said "Tenant Parking Only 'others towed away'. They sounded very nasty, so I taped paper over the bottom part and wrote, "Visitors please park on the street..thanks". And hung them from huge highway traffic cones that were left from my first hubby when he was a tow truck driver. Look good. Very visible. Hope it works.

The driveway is one-way at the beginning. Opens up to triple the size and I lined out enough parking for 8 cars. I reserved 3 for me and 5 for the tenants. Parties have all of the tenant's filled with cars parked behind them crosswise, and then the overflow starts lining up end to end along the fence (the actual drive area) and eventually they are all the way to the street so nobody can go in or out. It's a safety/fire hazard and I need to keep the lane open for emergency vehicles. Today is the FIRST time it might actually work. Wheeeee. Hoping for the best.

The festivities start at noon with a Priest doing a 'renewal' marriage, then who knows what happens, but I'm invited about 5 pm for FOOD. Loads of stuff. They were barbequing ribs when I went down at 7 am. Yummmmm.

Hoping for a quiet happy day, all day, for everyone.

The party is winding down a bit. It has been going since before 7am. At the height of the activity we had about 17 vehicles parked in and around the driveway. I only had to go down twice to remind the son who lives there that he is supposed to be watching the parking situation. He did nothing. Duh. He's a bit timid.

When I went down the first time, I ended up complaining (nicely) about a white car which had just arrived. Turns out it was the Priest. Ooops. He was already starting the 'ceremony' so I told them just to deal with the cars after he was done. Sigh. Several people tried to park in my spots, one lady actually parked there TWICE because I guess she figures an empty space (even if it says LANDLORD ONLY) means she can park there. She was just delivering and picking up a kid so it wasn't long, but still it's annoying.

Most of the people actually parked on the street, a few of them across right in front of the guy who hates me and is always glaring at me. I was a bit scared because one of the parked in the spot that HE always parks in. Oops. Decided not my problem, city street, no reserved parking even in front of your own house. He glared. Nice. Good to see he cares. rotfl He made a big deal of 'messing around' with his car for a long time probably trying to see if it was MY party so he could blame that on me too. I'm not paranoid, I just think he's a hot head.

THEN, geez, this is good, my neighbor from 2 doors up the street (roofer's son-in-law) was also having a party on his front lawn area and went stomping past the other house (which I just happened to be in talking to my friend/neighbor lady). By the time I came over to the end of the driveway, he was stomping back. He was madder than I've ever seen him. He's usually a nice mellow guy. Seems, "THEY are all driving into MY driveway". He said he had to warn them to tell their friends the correct address. Said they were all dumb, etc and all drunks. Not exactly true. Maybe HE was drunk. I saw 2 cars park in front of his area but didn't see any streaming down his driveway, which is also the Roofing office driveway and has constant trucks going in an out at all hours. Very strange.

So nasty neighbor across, went to the liquor store (he goes about once an hour to buy ONE beer). Then he came back after 3 trips and went over to the guy who just complained and came back, went to the store again, came back with a 6 pack this time and he and his 2 daughters joined that party. Probably discussing how it's all my fault for everything. Ha. I'm so tickled at that thought.

Now some of the probably 50 or so relatives are starting to go home, and it's going to be a late night for the older crowd who are actually drinking the strong stuff. They had an entire table loaded with all sorts of expensive spirits. Nice.

The food was AWESOME. Still have some ribs I couldn't finish. Gonna eat them later.

Hopefully, nobody will crash into anything or any cars on the way out tonight. It's always scary when they have been drinking. Oh gonna watch and record just in case.

Best part: my old Landlady was there. She is the niece of my tenants. She is the one who sold me this property after her 1st hubby died. We had a good chat. Hadn't seen her for at least 10 years. Nice to talk to her. Her new hubby is handsome and so nice. Did I mention he's also RICH? Ahhhh. The best for her. Nice Landlady, nice person. I thanked her for selling me the property. It was offered to me exclusively when her hubby died and only to me privately. So good, and a good deal for all of us since her relatives STILL live here. Life is good.

Going to spy on everyone. Little ones are starting to run relay races in the driveway and cars are coming and going. Very scary.
