hi, can anybody tell me what is essential to this game and where does the magnifying glass fit into the scheme of things? robert.

Hi robert, I would recommend playing the tutorial that is available to you at the start of the game; that should cover the basics.

hi Marian, i have already done the tutorial but it doesn't answer my questions especially as they relate to MaG's or Len Green's walkthroughs. i suspect everything underlined in Mag's walkthrough is required. i am not too sure about the magnifying glass. robert.

Apparently your cursor changes to a magnifying glass when you are able to take a closer look at something. I imagine that there will be times in this game when it is important to do that, so I would always take a closer look when you see that the magnifying glass is there.

Well, check out the start of this walkthrough video on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-JJccwWP_o

and you will see that when you move the cursor over a certain part, in this case the pepparkakshus (gingerbread house), it turns into a magnifying glass, and, presumably, when you click on it the picture is enlarged.

Moving to the bottom changes the cursor into a U-turn arrow. I assume, when you click it, you return to the full view.

It's not unlike the navigation in other games.

Rich

P.S. Sorry, I couldn't resist throwing in a bit of my language fetish wink. It's pretty harmless.

Robert,

The linen room is not locked. See where the active cursor is located. It might be the handle of the door.

Robert,
If I remember correctly, this is the door on your left if you are facing the back door to backyard. If this is your first time to the closet just look around. Esp
at the items at top shelf. You will do things here later.

Hi robert, the walkthrough states:

Quote:
Take picture of the die's six faces.

Room: Enter the room beside the reception counter and then turn left.

Study the picture above the entryway to get the Stierngranat's School Museum. Get new location. Exit.

The other walkthrough I see available describes it as a small room:

Quote:
In the small room, there is a large picture of an old photo, just above the sofa-set. Look at it in close up, and read the text. The School Museum appears on the map.

It's possible that's why the renovated room is not open. Why don't you look over some of the steps previous to this and check to make sure that you haven't missed something:

Quote:
Carin's studio:

Find where Carin's studio is: Go to George. Talk to George about the studio and Carin. New location is seen.

Studio: Go forward and then left. Open the door to Carin's studio.

Look around. Take the hole punch from the shelf by the door.

Box: Go forward. Turn left and look close at the box above the single shelf at right.

The lid of the box shows the matrix of numbers above the abacus in the School Museum.

Martin's note: Turn to the opposite wall. Examine the shelf with the papers.

Read Martin's note and brochure about the Sonic Forge - Sound Factory. Get new location.

Check the picture of the pyramid on the shelf above the computer. Exit

Sonic Forge:

Look around. Go forward and check the pallet before the enclosed room at left. Take the oil.

Enter the enclosed room at left. Check the table at left to get Martin's digital sound recorder.

Exit the room and go left, forward, left, forward and see a stuck door with broken glass at left. Exit.

Let us know if you are unable to get moving again. smile

hi Marian, my problem MAY lie in Carin's studio. if i go left - or right, i don't see lid of a box showing a matrix etc. where is this box? please don't paraphrase from MaG's W/T. robert.

After you have opened the door to the studio, try going forward and then turning left; you should then be able to see a shelf off to the right with a box above it - that is the box showing a matrix on it.

If this doesn't work, explore the room and see if you can find a shelf with a box above it.

Hi robert, glad you were able to get past that stuck point. smile

As you are now upstairs in the museum, after you have read the brochure, then go to the door where you entered this room - the book should be to the right of the door before you exit the room.

Let us know if you are still unable to locate the book.

I am having a problem finding the clock wallet at the barn. I've been over the area at least ten times and even went back to an earlier save and still can't find it. Can someone give me a hint where to look to find?

After you go down from the hayloft and enter the inner room, the wallet can be found in a stall to the right. Once you locate it, look at it in close-up.

It would help if you were more specific about where you are exactly.
What does the journal say? (to the left in the inventory)

The journal doesn't mention it. It goes into going back to Martin's room.

So what if you do that? Go back into Martin's room?
I need more details. =)

I finally got past that but now I'm trying to put the magnetic card on the keypad but I can't get them together. Any suggestions?

Here's from two different walkthroughs; let's check out the steps involved:

Quote:
Across the road from the ark is a bench. Pick up the personal magnetic card with 3 punches on the magnetic strip. Look close at the keypad of the Ark. It doesn't work. Go back to Mikael's brochure by the 2 statues. Zoom in and study his picture. He's holding a key card that has personal digital ID. This card has 4 punches on the magnetic strip. Use the hole punch from Carin's studio on the magnetic card. Use the 4 holed magnetic card on the keypad. Green light turns on. Look at the keypad. Based on the colored columns with symbols seen on the Information message board down the road, press 2504.

Quote:
Find a small bench in the center of the area. Pick up the magnetic card lying in front of it. Note that it has three holes. Use the hole punch on the magnetic card to punch a fourth hole in the card, and get a punched magnetic card. Go to the ‘ornamental Ark’ at the center of the area. In close up, view the front of the Ark. Use the punched magnetic card on the slot there. In addition, a code must also be entered in order to open the Ark. We know from the brochure close to the statues that the painting at the beginning of the area provides a clue to this code. The painting consisted of four vertical stripes-: One with two lines, one with a letter V, one with nothing in it at all, and one with four dots. The two vertical lines represent the number 2; the letter V the number 5, the empty stripe represents nothing (zero); and the four dots the number 4. Thus the code is 2504.

Let us know if you are still stuck.

OK, I have both the magnetic card and the keypad in inventory but I can't seem to get them together. I'll go try again. Thanks for your help.
