Nobody will ever win the Battle of the Sexes. There's just too much fraternizing with the enemy.

Lessons In Logic

If your father is a poor man,
it is your fate but,
if your father-in-law is a poor man,
it's your stupidity.

I was born intelligent -
education ruined me.

Practice makes perfect.
But nobody's perfect
so why practice?

If it's true that we are here to help others,
then what exactly are the others here for?

Since light travels faster than sound,
people appear bright until you hear them speak.

How come "abbreviated" is such a long word?

Money is not everything.
There's MasterCard & Visa.

One should love animals.
They are so tasty.

Behind every successful man, there is a woman
And behind every unsuccessful man, there are two.

Every man should marry.
After all, happiness is not the only thing in life.

The wise never marry.
and when they marry they become otherwise.

Success is a relative term.
It brings so many relatives.

Never put off the work till tomorrow
what you can put off today.

"Your future depends on your dreams"
So go to sleep.

There should be a better way to start a day
Than waking up every morning.

"Hard work never killed anybody"
But why take the risk.

"Work fascinates me"
I can look at it for hours.

God made relatives;
Thank God we can choose our friends.

The more you learn, the more you know,
The more you know, the more you forget
The more you forget, the less you know
So... why learn.

A bus station is where a bus stops.
A train station is where a train stops.
On my desk, I have a work station.
what more can I say.
~~~~~~~~~~
Lessons I've learned...
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in.
I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just buttholes.
I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.
I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more messed up than you think.
I've learned that you can keep puking long after you think you're finished.
I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, unless we are celebrities.
I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades, and there had better be a lot of money to take its place.
I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones who do.
I've learned that we don't have to ditch bad friends because their dysfunction makes us feel better about ourselves.
I've learned that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get arrested and end up in the
local paper.
I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and all the less important ones just never go away.
Terrific Tuesday ya'll puppy
Hubby and I were up before the sun. It's dark out now when we leave to walk the 4-legged ones. It was also humid and the weatherman promises it will be worse as the week goes by. But the sky was beautiful as the sun rose.
Then home to tackle the day. Tummy rebeled big time, so had to grill my books while sipping ginger beer instead of coffee. Maybe my body is telling me not to pay the bills. lol
I'll be stewing the books most of the day, as tummy and brain allow. wave
Connie, biscuit bottoms thanks happydance
Humid here too! Awful stuff. Sweaty, icky. Don't want to move around. Sitting under the fan and another one blowing in from the side. Feels better.
Calm outside, not good. 2 kitties not here for breakfast. Especially worried because the 'sick' one is missing. I heard crows early so he might have felt good enough to wander 'home' across the street. They usually follow him. I'll see later if he shows up. If not, oh well. Other one is Ninja, he's the wanderer of back yards but never across the road. Probably off hunting baby birds or mice or something. He's always darting here and there. I think he has ADD.
Need FOOD. Ugh. Gotta go get something or be a grouch in a few minutes.
Have a happy and hopefully cool day everyone! wave
Posted yesterday and the internet down for remainder of the day and some of today. I called yesterday because it's been down at least 1/3 rd of the time for these last 4 months. And here's the problem: Our tower just got old and broke down and they've been fixing it while a new one on order and new one here now and should be installed by tomorrow. He said. We shall see.
Thanks for the possum info, sorta and you have a kind and generous spirit.
And I'll post this now befor it's down again.
Things have taken a macabre turn regarding our local apartment drug dealer. IF the story is true (it came from the nice drunk lady who also lives there) we no longer have a drug dealer. He used to dress in very expensive, matching hat, shoes, sport T's and pants. He changed his outfits several times a day as he finished his 'deliveries'. He would go up and down the street all day and night over 10 or more times a day. In the last few months, he started to dress very shabbily and we didn't see the expensive clothes. He practically lived in his plaid pajama pants, a long dirty T and plaid floppy slippers. Looked very strange but we thought it was just his latest 'disguise' so the police wouldn't notice all his drug selling.
He rode a bicycle all the time, until a month ago when he was walking. Then he had another bike, then none again. He walked most of the time. I spoke to him about 2 weeks back and asked if he was 'getting his exercise'. He laughed and said, yup. So in the past week, my neighbor and I had seen him constantly going up the side street, going half way, stopping and walking back as if he's looking for someone or something. We thought maybe his 'stolen' bicycle.
So no sightings of him for over a week now and the nice drunk lady (who was pretty lucid today) walked by and said hi, how are things. I said fine with me how about you? and she replied I'm good, but Patrick killed himself. I almost fell over. She was so matter of fact. I asked HOW? She said he committed suicide by running into traffic on the freeway. Sounded very weird and maybe just her making stuff up.
THEN I remembered about a week ago, there was a report on the news of an 'unidentified male, possibly a transient' who was hit and killed on the freeway about 3 miles from here after walking in and out of traffic. Was a hit and run on the first car but the second car that hit him stopped. I finally located the video from Last Monday and read it.
I'm now pretty sure that this is HIM. Have no idea how drunk lady found out, but probably had some ID and traced him to the apartment address and she found out from the police. She told me he had just gotten out of the hospital 'again' and she didn't know why he wanted to kill himself, but might be due to that.
I'm sad. He was a nice guy notwithstanding his massive drug sales. Always friendly, smiley, but a few times was so drunk or on something he staggered down the sidewalk singing. Guess we might never know what actually happened. Why the change of clothing, why he was walking on the freeway, and according to witnesses, wanting to be hit from his actions. Maybe under the influence of something. So so sad.
On the other hand, things seemed to have solved themselves as to the constant drug selling. It's really ironic that my neighbor and I were discussing him last week after not seeing his constant activity and saying that 'someday, the problem will solve itself'. How's that for creepiness?
Wow, sorta, it's different when you know them isn't it. A long time ago a friend of my then husband's did suicide then shortly after a neighbor killed himself. Then after many years of an unhappy marraige we got a not so friendly divorce, he was bitter -the money/estate stuff. A couple years ago he shot himself and all I thought was, I knew he'd miss my good Lutheran cooking". Badbadbad but true.
Just be careful Sorta.
Being very careful to stay on good terms with all the 'crazies' around here. Now we are thinking why was he running back and forth on the freeway? On drugs? Maybe, but since he was a dealer (intermediate type not the big guy) maybe someone was CHASING him in a drug deal gone wrong. Could explain him running on the side, then over to the median, then back, etc. Witnesses said he was just running back and forth and in the traffic lanes. Makes no sense at all. Either high on something or trying to keep from being killed. Since it was a hit and run, the truck that hit him could have been the ones that were after him and he was running away. We will probably never know. Such a strange event. Sad. He wasn't that old, probably under 40.
No Penelope, no Orange kitty. Getting worried about Orange but if he's feeling better, I will see him in 2 days. He has a 'routine' when he's on his normal schedule. Still watching and waiting.
Yankee and Sorta, such sad tales. Some answers we will never know I guess.
I just took the dogs for a sunset run at the river and I should have just stayed home. Merlin got caught in some vines deep in the woods and lost his brace. I tried to get in there and now i am full of scratched and blooded legs from thorns. So much for a needed mental health walk. Now he's done running. sad Sometimes when it rains it pours.
Oh Ana I'm so sorry. I've been reading the posts as I've not been here much. I'm working another caregiver's shift as she's in the hospital. I'll be working her shift for another week, plus mine. Tiring but no one else is available to work her shift so I told Mike I'd work her shift also. Anyway I'm kinda tired when I got home so that's why I haven't been here much.
Sorta your news is very depressing. How do you stand it?
I'm calling it a day cause 5:15 comes really fast and I need my energy to face what's ahead of me tomorrow. Have a good night all. See you in the AM. Joe I sure could use some of your delicious BB pancakes to get me through the morning pleaseandthankyou. smile
Finally! Orange kitty showed up for supper at 7:00. He ate a full can of his favorite tuna/egg pate and then licked the gravy from the shred/fish/sardine. Then he wandered to the outdoor rug to rest. Dunno where he spent his day, probably across the street, but he is like a ghost. Here and then gone. I managed (at great threat to life and limb) to smear some cortisone cream on his 'wound' and actually got to feel that it's getting less gooey. Skin starting to form so I'm still optimistic about his recovery. He's still not up to 'tom cat' status, but he's better and better. Eating a lot! I opened 3 cans of stuff for him just so he could lick the gravy and get some liquid. The possums will finish the leftover off tonight. No waste here.
Still reeling from the sudden death of my drug dealer neighbor. He wasn't a bad guy (except for his choice of career) and it's hard to believe he won't be going by saying hi, and good morning anymore. Just a terrible waste of humanity. Still looking for the facts here. Going to talk to my neighbor (between me and the apartments) who often chatted with the guy). He might know something. Sigh.
Yankee, I will get him another one but I have to order it. I order it direct from the company but it takes a bit to get here and it costs 70 dollars. There is no way I will punish him and not have one here for him but since I won't be able to run him alone for months this puts a damper on his last few days. sad
