I am suddenly getting ads on every web page from 'ads by superman coupon'
notices that tell me I need to update my version of media player' on every page, and one that says 'this content requires Java 12.3 to view, would you like to install? YES or NO' also from 'ads by sumermancoupon'
and every post in Gameboomers has words highlighted that will give you a pop-up advertisement when you hover over them.

I have run scans with my anti-virus, and maleware scans that did initially find items that were quarantined or deleted, and now say everything is clear and there are no other contaminates in my system, but the pop-ups, and highlighted words are still here.

Does anyone know how to eliminate this?

Have you also run CCleaner? When you say you ran a malware scan, did you use the free version of Malwarebytes. Go searching in your add/remove programs and also in your Startup programs for things that don't look right.

I would also look for anything odd that you might see in the add-ons/extensions section of your web browser - I had a problem a while back similar to the one you describe, and that was where the trouble was; once I removed it and ran the usual scans, it was eliminated.

It is the free version of Malewarebytes. I just downloaded this morning. I have not run CCCleaner. I looked in add/remove programs and removed anything suspicious . I just upgraded to Avast Pro version.

When I clicked on this page, I got an alert that a 'Threat has been detected' "JS:ScriptIP-inf [Trj]"

I have deleted browser add-ons that I thought may be causing it, but no change Marian. duh

I have now run CCCleaner. No change

When I click on a post I now have another page opening automatically for live assistance from PC Help Desk, or Avast Support page. ???
