Joe, hope all goes well with your brother.

Hope your project and your dog run go well, Ana. smile

Have a great Sunday, too, Space Quest.

Well, this will be my last working Sunday as far as I know, unless something changes during the holidays. woot It's late Saturday night for me now, so I'm off to get some rest for my early day tomorrow. After that, I'll get to experience weekends the way they are meant to be experienced once again. lol

As for now, I'm off to sleep. Have a great Sunday, everyone. summer

California Earthquake! Way up North of me near San Francisco, but a biggie, 6.0 so far. Happened at around 3:30 am Pacific time. Lots of damage and some injuries and a terrible fire at a mobile home park. Broken water lines hampering firemen. At least 10 mobile homes destroyed and many more damaged. Awful stuff. Now to see if the jiggling descends nearer me. One biggie usually triggers the fault line and it goes around and around.

Things are calm here, too calm. Nothing weird happening all week, except I think the poor departed guy's room seems to already be rented out to a newbie. New car 4 days now in front of my house and the guy goes to the apartments. Don't recognize him at all. Should be fun watching the new guy. Looks clean cut, older, smartly dressed. They don't last long once they find out the living conditions and who they have as 'roomies'.

No Penelope, Orange kitty comes only once a day now. He's doing better and better. He let me 'pet' him with my trash picker-upper thingy. You know the ones with the handle and springy/rubber tips. I found out he liked it long ago when I was doing a clean up of the driveway and he rolled over so I 'massaged' down his back with it. Ever since, he rolls over and then presents his back for a rub. So cute. Probably looks weird to anyone watching. Maybe I should have named him 'litter'. If he wants his usual petting with the grabber, he's feeling better. Still icky under throat, but dry and healing. Maybe I'll try another cortisone attempt tonight. It's very scary because he's totally wild and even a touch could get me a nip or scratch. Oh well. I know he's better if he won't let me near him. Good.

Good morning, everyone. I woke up to a message from my daughter, telling me that she and her husband are okay but that they have lots of damage to their house - they live in Napa, where the earthquake struck. I'm watching the news now and seeing lots of video footage of places I am very familiar with, as I lived in Napa for 16 years. I am also seeing lots of damage that is very close to the street where I lived. Scary stuff.

I didn't feel the earthquake here - I am about four and a half hours away from Napa by car. I was living in Napa during the Loma Prieta quake in 1989 - that one knocked our house an inch or two off its foundation.

Oh Wow Marian! Thank goodness your daughter and hubby are OK. Earthquakes are so scary with all the falling stuff and breaking of power/water/gas lines. I actually like the rolling feeling of a quake, but considering the damages, not so good. I've been in several big quakes, most of them in Brawley, CA just after I was married. Waking up to the house shaking and our bed bouncing across the floor was really scary. Only damage there was a clock falling off the wall and taking a huge chunk out of my Hammond Organ. Cosmetic, but still not fun.

Neighborhood still quiet. Dunno what's going to happen. When it's quiet like this 'something' always happens. Hope it's just interesting rather than annoying or dangerous.

Marian, so sorry to hear about your daughter. I am glad she is okay though. I assume that everyone living in California would have earthquake coverage right?

L4L, hope you find some quiet today.

Sorta, hope something entertaining comes up today.

Ana, earthquake insurance is very expensive in Napa, being as it is in a high-risk area, and I would be surprised if they had insurance. When we lived there, we didn't have earthquake insurance because we couldn't afford it. The house is owned by my daughter's brother-in-law, who is not very reliable anyway, so I have my doubts, unfortunately. At least everyone is safe. wave

Well that's sad! I assume living in California that earthquake insurance would be almost mandatory. I guess there is some consolation to the fact she does not own the home.

Ana, I am watching CNN and they were just talking about earthquake insurance (due to the earthquake), and they said that the average cost of earthquake insurance in California is $860 a month. Hard to believe, but that's what they said. No wonder so many people aren't insured.

You may now pick yourself up off the floor...

Thanks for the sympathetic words, Sorta. Let's hope that there are no more big earthquakes in California for a good long while.

I was out to dinner when I saw your post and my daughter and hubby and I all had to pick our chins off the table! That is insane!
