Trying to get LSL2 to work on XP - but I am having difficulty with sound. In the lsl setup there are 3 options, Sound Blaster compatible, Roland, and PC speaker. The only one that works is PC speaker, but that is loud and annoying. I have a Sound Blaster Live! so ideally the SB option would work, of course that is in a dream world. Does anyone know any tricks for this, before I have to go and make a boot disk and find the DOS drivers for my sound card?

Additionally, will I really be missing anything if I play this game without sound?

since it's a text parser game, i don't think you'll miss that much -- but some of the music and sound effects are funny.

before you bother with a boot disk, try the Go Sierra patch and DOSbox. i'm sorry i don't have links off the top of my head. the Go Sierra patch is available at www.queststudios.com, and DOSbox should be easy enough to find with google.

EDIT: here's dosbox -- http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1

I will try DOSBox later - it looks promising. Thanks!

fov - Just wanted to tell you that DOSBox did the trick. MIDI sound in all its glory! Thanks again.
