At 7:46 this morning, phone rang.
"What on earth? Hello"
"Garble garble gooble gobble"
"I can't understand a word your're saying. laaady"
"Garble microsoft PC gooble gobble"
"You no speeka da plain enuf, laaady"
"Messages comming from your gooble gobble PC and........"
"Oh you piece of smelly -h--"

End of fun, but at 7:46 in the AM? Now where did that call originate.

Forgive me Mag -call again and I won't be so rude. I just hope she heard my last remark. But at 7:46? And all that noise in the background. Next time my cat can answer.

Oh I'm so jealous! My scam callers don't use the colorful language. Darn. Lucky you! But if you need Solar Panels, a step in tub, new windows, siding, energy efficient roofing, or a whole house 'inspection' for free (ha), or a water heater cleanout, etc, I can give your number to some of my favorite callers who sometimes call 4 times a day from a slightly different phone number but always are the same group. Hate those guys.

WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.

That sounds like a great idea for a new subscription business, perhaps as a GB franchise: pay a subscription, and rather than just having your friends forward email jokes, subject yourself to prank calls (perhaps specifying permissible times and language/vocabulary parameters)... wink

Usually I just hang up and walk away or let the phone sit and they talktalktalk sometimes perplexed and then they hang up. But sometimes while in a playful mood.......I play. Like once this nice young lady voice and in perfect Queen's English informed me that I was eligable for a lower credit card interest rate -obviousle she wanted my c-card number. (?) Whatever, I replied my usual,"I no speaka da Ainglish well. I'mma new to da cohntre. Speaka slower". And then silence.

Lex, would you do our paper work?

And Sorta, yea I could use some of that stuff. Maybe me and thee, we could devise a method to scam them out of their products/bait. Like you don't have enough to do. Be kind to your pets and Penelope

Yankee, you have a real cruel streak. For phone scams, it's perfect.

I don't think I'll ever forget the day an India gentleman called telling me my computer had reported it had a virus. I just looked at my computer and wondered how a computer, which was shut off, could report it had a virus. Much less anything else. I then explained to him how male bovine help grass grow and hung up.

Let's swap telemarketer stories. I betcha there's some good ones cause g'boomers has some fine talent and smarties here.

And Homer, Yes I have been at times sinister -just ask my ex. Also never let them know how smart, or is it mean you really are. It helps when you know you are smarter than your boss. Great retort to India gent.

I haven't received a call in some time, at least I haven't responded to any calls of that type. Now our answering machine might have, but no one left a message so I can't really say.

I got another one this AM at about 7 but, dummy me, I posted it in mixed bag. It's right after Sorta's post, page 2.

The trick is to keep them talking, after all they’re paying for the call. My personal record is just under 20 minutes before they slammed down the receiver. Sound very interested at first, and then gabble about absolutely anything. Your daughter’s new baby. Your holiday in the Greek Islands etc and don’t let them interrupt your flow.

If you get tired of the game there’s always someone knocking at your door, Oh, and ask them for their telephone number, they never give you one.
