Enjoying this old game no end but am stuck trying to find The Black Cross so I can pick the lilies. WTs just say to click on it - does that mean the black cross on the map? Have done that but it does not facilitate picking the lilies. Have visited the museums twice and looked at everything I could think of. Am missing something here but what? Tried to find a black cross in the tombs in church as one person suggested but was unable to. Can anyone direct me to that illusive black cross? happydance

The black cross is on the map, a seperate location from the museums... the lilies are down by the lake at that location.

It is ages since I have played so I may be totally wrong!!

the lillies aren't down by the lake. they're in the town near the church (on the ground to the right of the church). you need to pick them and then take them to the lake.

Playing this one myself. smile

Have you talked to Dallmaier at Starnberger See yet? Or visited the Wagner Museum? Written to Gabe? Talked to Mrs. Smith? Any one of these things might just be the trigger you need to pick some of those lilies.

Hope one of us has been some help. laugh

good point leigh anne. even if you haven't hit the trigger yet, you should be able to see the lillies on the ground by the church. if it's not time to pick them, they will not be in bloom yet. if it's time to pick them, they will be in full bloom. grace won't pick the lillies unless they've bloomed.

Found the trigger - it was a telephone call I had neglected to make. Now have lilies and have them in the lake - struggling now to get something I have missed done so peope will talk to me. Can't get Gerde to tell me I have a fax message at the post office so I can proceed from there. Not sure just what I missed as I have redone all the museums and talked to everyone I can think of - any other suggestions? Thanks to all who made preceeding suggestions.

Lilac, a lot of times it's something you've missed either in the museum or the castle. There is a walkthrough here that details exactly what you have to look at. And don't forget to listen to all of the taped guide messages in the castle...

a lot of people get stuck in this place. go back to the museums, make sure you click on everything 2 or 3 times. let grace comment on the item AND listen to the tour tape. then click on your map button and whichever location has additional stuff to do will flash -- if either museum is flashing, you have missed something there and have to go back.

That's one feature I liked about this game - it wouldn't let you proceed to the next chapter until you had completed everything in the current one. And the map tells you where you still have things to do.

Finally at the end but having all kinds of problems with the "maze effect" in the basement. Have several WTS and have copied their ending moves into sections so that as I finish one section I save and keep on going. I am almost at the end having about two of my sections (with 3-4 moves in each section) to go but suddenly I get thrown into a map scene and then I get the wolf picture and the detective shoots the wolf. Do not understand what is going on - I have tried and retired the differing sections again and again but can get no further in the game. Each move I make coincides with the WTss re turning left, right, go ahead and close doors but cannot get beyond the ending sections. What am I doing wrong or have left undone maybe?

Lilac, the wolf is probably sneaking up on you somehow--this is a tricky part. The best walkthrough for this part is here , see if it will help you. One point, when it says to "turn", that doesn't mean to move, but just to swivel around on the same spot.

If you still can't get it, send me a save and I'll see what I can do...

Your new instructions were just great -now in the furnace room but have been unable so far to get the Black Wolf to jump into the furnace. Just a matter of dexterity at which I am lousy. So don't know how long it will take me to end the game. Been at it now off and on for couple of days. Any clues how I might accomplish this or does it just boil down to how fast I am with the cursor? I may be here until Christmas at the rate I am going. smile smile

Lilac, the instructions that got me through this were in that same walkthrough: As soon as you have control as Gabriel again, LINE UP YOUR CURSOR WITH THE LEFT EDGE OF THE COAL BIN (to the right of the furnace), AND ABOUT MIDWAY UP VERTICALLY. Wait for Von Glower to leap. When he starts the leap, he'll move in relative slow motion. THE INSTANT HE CROSSES THE POINT OF YOUR CURSOR, CLICK ON HIM...

Still trying to kill that Black Wolf - geeeezzzzz. Either I am especially unskilled at these type of movments or I am missing something. Have clicked all possible positions I can think of but never get him into the furnace. Is it possible to use a saved game and yet see the ending - hate to get this far and miss out on the ending! Will keep trying for awhile yet to see if I can hit it just right. Any special clues I can try?

Have you lowered your graphic accelerator, Lilac and possibly the speed of your mouse also? Those things might help...

Hi lilac, what worked for me is, when you take control again just put your cursor ON the black wolf and when he starts to jump click like crazy.....hope this helps...

Giving up on trying to kill the Black Wolf - have tried for a week now and no matter how I move or place my cursor nothing is working. Wondering if someone has a saved game that I could use and yet be able to see the ending of the game. Sure hate to miss that. So help help if you can. smile

Bert just read your message and it seems when I get control of the cursor it is too late - I think I do click click like crazy but will certainly try once more and Jenny will lower the acceleration in hardware and mouse and try again with you ideas. Keep you all posted.

OK have tried absolutely everything suggested and am still not able to ever get the BWolf. So anyone with a saved game here at the end - it will be appreciated very much.

Lilac, I hate to say this, but unless I'm very mistaken (which is a possiblity, based on past experience laugh ), you can't save between the furnace sequence and the end of the game--it all just runs together...

Jenny's right. There is no way to save a game after pushing Von Glower into the furnace. frown

desertlilac, make sure that you're having Grace open the furnace door after getting another chance. Might sound silly but I forgot to do that on my second and third tries and therefore couldn't push the Black Wolf into the furnace. thumbsup

I hope that you get that wolf taken care of.

Thanks all - have discovered a WT that detailed the end and so will try it. Seems I should be not only clicking on Gracie, then the furnace door but also on Gabe, the gray wolf. Then I can concentrate on the Black Wolf and he does jump slower so that I think I will have time now to get him!!!!!! This WT also told me where to place the cursor to get him so will try that also. Thanks for following through this game with me and I can understand about the ending being all one movement and no place to save. So will persist until I get him! smile

I don't know what walkthru you're using, but here's what worked for me.

Click on Grace and Gabe will motion towards the furnace. Click on the furnace door and Grace will open it. Click on Gabe and he will motion towards furnace and Grace will acknowledge his signal. Wait until Von Glower begins his leap, then immediately click on him and Gabe will shove him into the furnace.

Good luck!
