Hi. Really liking this game but...

I know there are two parts where you can use the backspace key to skip actiony or arcade type puzzles. I don't want to look in the walkthrough because I don't want to see anything I shouldn't see so can you just confirm the following?

The two puzzles that can be skipped are the rat smashing and the light bugs gathering? I did already do the rat one. I'm on the light bug one but my arm is killing me on this one. Please also confirm that I am supposed to be trying to gather them all into one ball or something of that nature.

I'm going to give it another try tomorrow. I got so close and then lost them. Really hoping I can get it!

Thanks!

The light bugs puzzle can be bypassed.

Objective for the light bugs puzzle:

Quote:
See that they coalesce into one big light bug at the center when zapped.

Click as fast as you can before the coalesced light starts to disperse again.

Ok Marian. Thanks for confirming.

Was the other skippable puzzle the rat one? I got through that one but it was a pain because the cursor moved really slow. By the time you dropped the brick the rat had run away. Just hoping there are no more like these. I wouldn't dislike this light bugs puzzle if it wasn't hurting my arm so much.

Have you played this game?

The walkthrough says you can bypass the rat puzzle.

I haven't played the game, but I remember hearing good things about it when it was released.

And I will never forget that you managed to finish Harvester! yes

Thanks for the push Marian (mentioning Harvester). It took me almost 2 hours of trying off and on (had to rest my arm and calm myself down) but I finally got it! So if those were the 2 worst puzzles, I should be good to go. (Famous last words.)

Wow, you have a lot of persistence. Good job. Hopefully there won't be anything else like that in the game. smile

If I like the game and or puzzle I have a lot of persistence. If the game is just so so, eh.. Mostly, it really depends on the puzzle. Some I know I can do if I just keep trying but some I know I'll just never get, and sometimes I guess wrong on that decision.

I know just what you mean. I have more motivation trying to get through a difficult sequence when it's a game I am enjoying.

I have also given up on puzzles before that I know I could have solved if I had summoned up the patience required to get through them.

Well Marian, I'm losing my persistence and patience now. Been going at this puzzle for approximately 3 hours straight and getting nowhere. Not sure what the puzzle is called but may be for the fan and involves meters and ratios. I see clues but they're not helping me. Getting tired of going back and forth and trying to track numbers. Any hint you can give me?

I see a pretty lengthy sequence in the game where ratios are involved, having to do with the gas ratio for halls A and B, a red control panel, etc. - is this approximately where you are in the game?

Are you on the red machine?

If so:
- Turn it on first.
Go to the factory circuit panel at the cellar.
Push Hall B's left and middle flip switch up on .
Then push the lever. You might need to push down (off) Hall A's flip switches first.
Go back to Hall B and to the control panel under the floor.
- Then set the gas machine correctly (red machine should have a green light now).
- Gauge - Based on the picture seen in the computer, set the gauge to 3.
Do this by pushing the second and the third from the left red button at top of the red control panel.
- Click on levers-switches 2, 3 and 5.

Hope this is the one you need.

For some reason this is not working for me.
You say "based on the picture seen in the computer, set the gauge to 3". What computer? Is it in the office? I have not been able to get up there yet.

Okay... I had not been able to get up there and that's why I moved on to the other area. Thought maybe I had to do that first.

I'll work on it some more. (I did put the petrol in the car and turned it on but just haven't figured out how to make it go up.) I assume that's what I'm supposed to be doing. Don't help me out yet. I'll very probably be back.

Thanks!

I just played this game again to see how it would play on new my win7 computer. It played well. I love this quirky game and have played it a few times so I like to see others enjoying it too. Nice to see you persevering oldbroad.

So, several playing hours later...
I'm not getting anywhere. Can I get just a hint or nudge as opposed to a full answer?

Is putting the petrol in the car the last thing you have done? If you could confirm what the last action was that you performed, that would be helpful. It sounds like you may have done a bit more than that.

Hi Marian,

Yes, I think putting the petrol in the car and sharpening something on the wheel was the last things I've done. If it is supposed to move me up that office, I can't figure out how. If it's not, then I don't even have a plan at all.

I have not done anything with the 2 machines (red one discussed above and other one in same room) as from MaG's posts it appears I should get into the office first. Well, I have played with the machines but not gotten anywhere with them is what I should say.

I'm probably missing something really stupid that's right in front of my face.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

oldbroad,

To enter the office, you need a key.

To FIND the key - check the dark corner:
Quote:
Dark Corner pipe - Go to Hall A by going down the stairs, to the hall at bottom screen and out the hall.
Enter the door on the left to be at Hall A. Go to right screen and then to the dark corner below the green platform.
Time to check what is inside the pipe. Use the wind (draft) skill on hole of the pipe.
Watch the severed hand gets blown out of the pipe and lands on the table below the tube post at Hall A.

Then you have to work to GET the key.

Looking at the walkthrough, it seems that in order to acquire the wind skill, you need to repair the fan in the lobby.

Which brings me back full circle to the red machine that I can't solve because I have to get into the office that I can't get into?

Maybe I better take a peek at the walkthrough to see if I can figure out what I missed. This is getting too confusing.

Thanks!

OK. I read enough to figure out what probably happened. Somewhere along the way I probably had the fan working but I was not going into the lobby to check the fan every time I tried different switches in the cellar. I think that I thought after looking at it once or twice that I had to light up all of the lights on the red machine. Told you it would be: "I'm probably missing something really stupid that's right in front of my face.".

So, I am moving on for a minute at least.

Well, I'm sorry to say that once I looked in the walkthrough I kept on looking everytime I ran into a little problem and have now finished the game.

Thanks Marian and MaG. And blackbird, I'm sorry I let you down!
