i have been playing this game for over 2 years on windows 7 pro. than the under day it quit working. so i uninstalled the game and used system restore to go back about 3 days. than i reinstalled the game and it worked until i went back to the office and it crashed to the desk top. so i tried it again using a fresh install and this time it got to the second act before it crashed. i also have the triple murder mystery pack, which has this game on it. i played until i finished everything in part 1 and it would not do anything. the kept game playing and would n;t go back to the office. so my question is:did microsoft add a update to keep this game from playing. that happened on shelock holmes the mystery of the mummy about 10 years ago. and put the update in a message and all we had to do was remove the update and the game started players again. i wonder if the same thing happened. thanks crazy betty 1945

I remember that. Three games that I know of were affected (Omega Stone, Cameron Files 2, and Mystery of the Mummy).
Then Microsoft added the update to XP SP1 (12 years ago), and people couldn't remove it so easily.

I don't know if an update could have caused problems with Evil Under the Sun or not, but you can check your Windows Updates and see if there are any recent ones that were installed around the time the game stopped working.

Quote:
Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.

In the left pane, click View update history.

You would think that going back to a restore point before the update would set everything back, but from a Google search, it seems that some updates may not be removed when you do a System Restore.

You might try uninstalling individual updates rather than using System Restore.

If you do manage to uninstall the latest updates and get the game working, see if you can figure out which update caused the problem.
