I have had to temporarily suspend my BFG Game Club membership as I have 59 games still to play!!! This is the only way I can stop buying more games whilst I play my existing games lol

I see from my games' list that my oldest purchase on the list was in 2007. However, I also see that MCF Huntsville, which I purchased before that year, is not on the list.

BFG is a great company in every way, not least in customer relations, and I will therefore rejoin the Game Club in due course.

I was wondering if any other Boomers have found themselves in a similar position to mine? wave thumbsup

Bernie, I think we'd all be suspending our Game Club memberships if we had to meet the criteria of having played all games already purchased before buying new ones. You are setting a dangerous precedent. scared haha

Your approach makes good sense, though. smile

Are you saying that Huntsville isn't in your Purchase History, even though you purchased it? If so, you should definitely write to Customer Support about this.

I quit for a different reason. One of the main reasons I play games is to escape to a virtual world, so immersiveness is extremely important. It's become too hard to find games at Big Fish that don't have a lot of immersion-destroying intrusions -- popups and slide-ins that block your view of the screen, congratulating you for every little thing, offering unwanted suggestions about what to do next -- and you usually can't continue the game until they disappear from the screen. I've seen people complain about "sparkles," but they can often be disabled in the difficulty settings (Personally I've never minded sparkles unless they are all over the screen). I've never seen any setting that disables all the unwanted "contratulatory messages" blocking the screen and disabling your mouse until they're gone -- announcing in no uncertain terms that you're only playing a game and killing any immersiveness.

Maybe Big Fish does have one game a month that doesn't have these problems, which would pay for the subscription. But it is too hard to find it, and you have to install the games to find out because most user reviews don't mention it.

Obviously most of Big Fish's customers don't mind all the popups and slide-ins. But just as obviously, I'm not a member of their target audience. I wish them well because their customer support is good, but I don't plan to resubscribe.

Of games that have been released in the last six months, of note is that Mystery of Unicorn Castle: The Beastmaster gave you the option of disabling all of the announcements. There may be others, but this is the one I remember for sure.

I haven't given up my membership, but I have stopped buying. I was getting bored with all the games unless it was a good TM game. Now I just replay games I already have while listening to audio books. However, I am in need of a good TM game right now, so I hope one comes along soon.

I agree that there's been a real TM drought, Flo. With Sandlot and Playfirst not making them for the PC anymore, they have been few and far between. It would be nice to see that turn around. wave

I gave my membership up a month ago! I found I was getting bored halfway through playing,so I started replaying games I already have which is close to 200 games! I agree with Jenny it's very annoying with all the pop ups in the games wave

I may not have gone where I intended to go,but I think I have ended up where I need to be.

Although I've thought about it, I've not given up my membership because having it allows my 58 yr old brother who is living on disability in a psych rehab nursing home to have access to my purchased games. He can't afford the monthly fee but he has my sign on info and uses it to pick what he wants and mess with it. He's not able to work, has no social skills, and was basically lying in bed everyday waiting to die. So I told him to think about getting back to his laptop which he always enjoys. It took a while but now he's back to watching his favs on Hulu, takes his meds, gets to the library once a month and plays his games. After a rough life, it makes him happy and that's all I care about.

And I still get one or two for myself maybe once a month, I love the griddle games no matter how silly they are, but I don't purchase additional game credits.

BTW, I once purchased 5 game credits as a gift for my brother's birthday. Soon after is when he got really sick to the point that I thought the end was near. He hadn't wanted or used his computer or had any desire to play games for a while so I explained the situation to BFG and they returned them to me to use them. Later, when my brother returned to gaming and had some computer problems while working on a BFG game, at my urging he contacted BFG himself and they helped him out.

Although I've thought about it, I haven't yet given up my membership at Big Fish. In fact, today I just used 2 game club credits and the sale code to purchase 2 collector's editions. Unfortunately, I don't play games as often as I used to so I just can't keep up with the new games. I have several games that I haven't played yet. I've used up (or let expire) all my punch card coupons so I think I'll just see how things play out. sherlock
