I am really stuck. I put the feather in the hat right away. when I try to put the hat with the cape, it doesn't do anything. so, since I didn't put the feather in the cage or the bird.... I am wondering if that messed things up. I have searched all over for timmy and he is no where. I can't do anything with Ethel yet; even though I know that I need a disguise. do you think I need to go back to a saved game? I need the v-belt but while N8 is seesawing with me I can't do anything and I have tried putting everything on the seesaw. argh. help me please!

I thought so too on my first run. Try clicking whatever disguise you have in inventory on Timmy that should be in inventory also. Then start combining the disguise. See if that works. If not go back to a saved game and see if a replay in sequence will a way through.

MaG do you know how many pages the whole WT will be so I can just print chapter 3. Thanks

Thanks for the tip on here to find the hat. However I have the coal and everything appears to be ready to start the machine but I can't get the coal in...I can only look at it not do anything with it. From what I'm reading on Steam, this maybe a glitch. If so I have a loooong way to go back as I got the coal last and it sounds like that's not the thing to do....annoying but I guess that's part of early access. Sigh
Loving this game tho. The whole series are in my top games.

but I don't have Timmy! I can't find him anywhere. Nobody but Ethel and N8 will talk to me, the feather is already in the hat and I can't combine the clock with the hat to make a disguise. I'm just missing that darn Timmy!

Try to highlight - copy only Chapter 3 on to a document file - like Microsoft Word and print that only.
I'll start replaying and writing the rest soon.

I don't know about a glitch on this part. I did have a freezing when I was checking the sequence of actions to do.
Try this - Place the rock and wood in the funnel.
Look at all the parts of the machine including the oil can and whistle.
Then click on oven door to open, coal and then close oven door again. See if that works.

I need a little more help. I put the belt on the machine, filled it with wood and stone, have the coal and see the furnace lit up. according to the walkthrough I am supposed to fiddle with the levers but it is only a magnifying glass, not a "use" icon. I only have tape, plates, timmy and wrench in my inventory now. I have tried everything on the handle that pulls down, I have pushed that switch outside that keeps going back to normal 50 times. How do I get the engine to go? or fiddle with the levers? thanks.

The statement "fiddle with the levers" is what is said by Wilbur to describe how to do the puzzle.
Continue with the step by step now.
I better add to the walkthrough ---- as soon as the cursor becomes active - do the next step. So watch that cursor.

I can't get him to say that. I have right clicked and left clicked on the levers. He says everything seems to be in order. the furnace is lit. is there something that I have to do with the switch outside the machine room? it keeps going back after I press the switch. for some reason I was thinking that was a clue.

If you have everything ready on the machine. Just do the step by step.
Everything you need to do - is right there on that screen.
The switch is a red herring.

Wilbur mans the coal. N8 mans the levers and oil can. He will pull it after you click the levers.

As I mentioned - as soon as the cursor is active - do the next step.
Continue with no pause because that gauge will go back down.

I believe that I have everything ready on the machine but there is no step by step.

when I click on:

oven door: he says we need coal. when I click on coal, he say: coal, shovel and a little fire. everything is ready to go. when I click on flywheel he says everything looks to be in order when i click on chain handle he says when it is running i will be the first to pull it. when he click on funnel he says everything necessary. we have to start it up. on oilcan he says unnecessary. on levers he says we need to get this baby working first. nothing shows a "use" icon. I don't know what more to do to get it running. thanks again.

Attached the v-belt.

Added small boards to funnel.
Added intelligent rocks to funnel.

Cutscene with Gulliver stating they are ready to run the machine.

Back to the machine. Wilbur did the Fiddle with it speech.

Then the step by step of open, coal close, lever etc...

The cursor changes when it is active.
Move that cursor to the next step and when itchanges - click. You should see the instruction at bottom of screen.

I put the v-belt on when I first got it. i added the boards as soon as I could. I put the rocks in a long time ago too. could it just be that I put things in the wrong order? I can't talk to gulliver either. Maybe I will go back to a saved game and see if making the difference in order makes a difference. as of now, nothing is active on the screen. thanks Mag.

I sent you back my saved game prior to doing the puzzle. It looks like the game doesn't want adding the items before you're ready to do the puzzle.
If you want a saved game after the machine; it will be after a cutscene. Tell me.
I didn't want you to miss it - so I sent you before the puzzle.

would you consider that a bug? I will play from your save and hopefully that will work. I would prefer to do it myself, if at all possible, so hold off on sending after the cut-scene. thanks so much agian.

Yes - it should not matter when an item is added to anything unless there is a specific sequence stated like chemical reactions. Have fun with the game.

I could not interact with anything in the machine closeup scene, could only "look".The only way I was able to progress and get the machine running was to load a savegame and repeat everything but put the V belt on last. I've commented on this on Steam and I'm not alone. Hope they get that one sorted in the update.

ah, so it must be a bug. I could only look too. thanks for reporting it to Steam and thanks for letting me know. Thanks to Mag's saved game though, now I am almost finished.

I used the V-belt on the flywheel and put everything in the funnel and had n8 pull the levers but the gauge didn't move a bit. N8 keeps pulling the same two center ones. Really stuck. Thanks
