I bought this game used and it didn't come with a manual. I started playing and couldn't find anyway to save games (went around the borders, hit the esc. key and even tried "control S nothing worked). I would like to play this one but don't have the time at any given day to play it straight through. I also checked the Broderbrund website but there's nothing on it anymore. Is there anyone who played this game who cold tip me off as to how it's done? Thanks in advance.

Bill

Llewton,
I haven't played this game yet, but I do have the manual. Evidently, the Game Menu Bar appears when you move the cursor to the top of the screen and click the mouse button or left mouse button (if you have a two-button mouse). If a movie is playing, you must click once to interrupt the movie, then you may access the Game Menu Bar.

To save a game in progress, click on the upper left-hand corner of the screen and pull down the File menu.

I hope this helps.

I loved this game! Kind of a Law & Order lite. lol But be warned, it is extremely difficult to get a conviction of Murder in the 1st. The key witness has to be handled with kid gloves throughout the game or they will renege on their ealier statements to you when put on the stand.

The manual recommends that you play the game all the way through, even if you know you're not going to get the best outcome. That way, the next time you play, you'll be armed with more complete information.

Yes. You get daily updates in the form of TV news spots at the end of each day. This news coverage features a real San Francisco D.A. reviewing your performance in court that day. His comments are helpful in figuring out where you may have gone wrong.

Thanks to all for the input. Will try to check out the save option tomorrow night as I'll be out late tonight. So this works like Ripper where input from previous games are kept in a file for future game input or as in Ripper's case to give you another suspect as the Ripper?

Happy gaming,
Bill

Not exactly. At the end of each day of the trial, you get "reviewed" on the nightly news. Seeing which days you get good reviews and which ones you get criticized (and why you get criticized) will tell you which witnesses you did poorly with. This will give you an indication that either your preliminary investigation interview with the witness for that day was lacking, or that you handled the cross-examination poorly. Play through the rest of the game anyway to see what verdict you get. After the verdict is announced, the final news wrap-up will indicate some of the points you failed to make with the jury. For instance, you may not have adequately tied the suspect to the murder weapon, or you may have failed to sufficiently prove motive, etc. All of this can help you figure out what to do differently if you play the game again.

I tried it again last night and was able to bring up the game menu with the save option. Had the right idea all along just didn't know you had to click to get it to open, with most games that work this way you jsut have to bring the curser to the top and it opens. Thanks again.

I bought that game used and without a manual too. I experiemented with key combinations. Here's what I found:

Alt-F4 quit game
Alt-L load game
Alt-N New game
Alt-S save game

The first time threw I failed to get a conviction. The second time it kept crashing at the same point so I gave up.
