I'm just wandering around between the museum and the theater. I've been in the office but I can't find the password or the key to the file cabinet.
I can't do any of the displays because I don't have enough info.
What should I be doing?

Have you met Grigor yet? If not, when you are in the amphitheater, there are a couple of other areas you can access by going backstage behind the curtain. And have you found the temple sketch on the bench in the museum?

Yes, I have met Grigor and found the temple sketch.
The sketch makes no sense to me as it doesn't give enough details about the designs in the temple machine. Nothing is accepted by the gods.

Have you found the Famous Greeks book in the theater seats? And have you checked out the fly system in the room with Grigor?

I have found the book. No on the fly system. Thanks, I'll check that out.
What exactly is the fly system?

When you exit the room where Grigor is, the fly system is on the left. You will see levers and ropes.

I'm having trouble unlocking the filing cabinet. I followed the directions in the hints and got extra help at the HER forum, but it still doesn't work for me. I'm wondering if there's a glitch in the game or if I'm just doing something wrong. Help.

Oops! Found it!

Do you have to do all of those images on Xenia's tablet?
Are all of those padlocks and question marks images?
I'm really slow at them is there a chance Nancy will get caught?

No - just the first one.
The others are if you want the trophy.
No - Nancy will not be caught.
I finished all those and took pictures and Nancy was patient with me. lol

I went to the bookcase in the office and clicked on the wooden animal figurine box and it opened. That's all it did. I didn't get any clicking curser. I couldn't match any animals. Is there something I'm doing wrong
I called Rosi and I'm good now. Sorry. Just a simple little call that's all it took.

Richard, if memory serves, you have to be prompted for that puzzle. Have you asked Melina about a key for the coins display yet? This will have her tell Nancy it's in the filing cabinet, and that the key for the cabinet is in the animal figurines box - also you'll have to have the Greek Gods book or Nancy will keep making a comment about needing to know what to do first (I forget her wording). I think this book is on one of the benches in the museum's main room

I went to the mailbox and put the tickets in. but there wasn't any book guide to Greek vases. I called the Hardy Boys. They wouldn't answer the phone. I didn't even see the labels in the filing cabinet.

Did you read the letter by Melina asking that you label the vases?
Did you check the left and right drawers of the filing cabinet for the labels?
Did the Hardy Boys say they will send you a book?

What exactly are you supposed to do with the fly system?
Nothing moves when I click on it.

Grigor will ask you to fix the fly system. You then won't be able to solve it until you have noted certain necessary information in Xenia's script. After that, you have to click on the weights in the fly system.

Grigor keeps telling me to fix it since I broke it.
I have gotten the script and looked at Xenia's table.

I just don't know what to do with the fly system. Nothing moves. It just creaks.

Have you tried clicking between the labels and the weight amounts? That's where you get the weights you need to use to solve the puzzle.

I don't have the cursor to click there. The board above the labels is the only place I can click. I can't click anything below that.

Stonzee,

Grogor told you to check his tablet to find out how to do the fly system.
Read the blue tablet again.
Read the stage notes again. There might be new entries. Lights and Cues states to check Xenia's script notes.
Read Xenia's notation on page 2 of the director's copy of the script.
The sly system will be active then.

I have read those. Multiple times.
I guess I'm not seeing how to get the things to actually move.
I can move the weights but no numbers change. And the weights I move do not register that they have been moved.

Ropes? No I wasn't. lol. No wonder I couldn't get it to work.

Okay, that's done. Now I'm, stuck.
I need to find the password to the authentication database.
Also the stage ifsomething. Whatever that is.
And to authenticate the gold leaf necklace which I have no clue where the info on that might be.

I'm sort of just wondering around. No one talks in person or on the phone.
I'm missing something somewhere.

I found the info on the gold leaf necklace but the computer keeps telling me the data does not match what is on file.
I know I entered the correct info. The picture I took is not good because I can't get close enough to it to take the picture. It's not the one in the broken case, right? It's the other one. But I can't get a good picture of it.

Got all of those items done. Found the lift remote and went to the basement/underworld. I don't know what to do now.

I couldn't really do anything there.
I don't have what the skeleton man in the boat wants.
I didn't have the info to do the rock puzzle.
I did find something on the ground. Is that what the boat man wants?
I assumed he wanted money.

You are right that the boat man (Charon) wants money, but you don't find that money in the Underworld.

There is a piece of paper you can find in the Underworld - is that what you found?

Did you find a pitcher in the Underworld? If not, you need to explore more.

No, I found a flashlight. There's a piece of paper? No, I did not find a pitcher. Are they in that first section?
I figured I could take a coin from the display in the museum and give it to the boat man. I'll try it and see.

stonzee,

I just wrote on another post:
- Read everything in the computer - Melina's messenger.

For the coin display:
- You have to see Charon's hand open and close.
- You read Melina's message on the computer that Charon's coin should be fake.
- Possibly also that the coins on display are all fake.

That is not a flashlight but a spectroscope. You will need close to end of puzzle.
The rock puzzle is just one of 4 that you will see.
Click on it again to get Nancy say - she needs rubbings of them. Then later in the game - get paper and charcoal.

After you get to ride Charon's boat - you will open an entirely new places. luck

I do check Melina's messages on a regular basis.
I have seen Charon's hand open and close. I tried to give him the spectroscope and he wasn't happy. lol.

Nancy did say she needed to find something to make rubbings of the rock.
I didn't see any other puzzles. I'll have to go back down there to see what I can find.

I went back to the underworld and there is no paper or pitcher to be found.
There's nothing else there. I did find a charm but that's it.
I can't get into the coin display. I do have the key but I can't click on anything.
I did read the message about Charon. I'm stuck. No one talks.

In Tartarus, there is a path/ramp that you can walk up, so continue to explore carefully. You will find a pitcher at the top of it that you can pick up.

Click to reveal..
You will have to avoid a falling boulder when you begin your ascent up the path.

Tartarus is in the Underworld - I was thinking that you had access to that area already, but maybe you haven't been able to get there yet.

What is on your task list presently?

Figure out how to cross the river Acheron
Find the password for the Authentication Database
Track down the key to the show poster's box
Scour Xenia's script for hidden clues (which I have done but I can't check it off)

I'm not sure what step(s) you are missing. Have you tried clicking on one of the question marks next to the stuff on your task list - see if something there will give you a nudge in the right direction (this is available in Amateur mode).

Sorry about my post earlier - I wasn't realizing that you hadn't gotten the coin to give to Charon yet and thus hadn't gone across the river.

I don't know what I'm missing either.
No one will say anything other than talk to you later or goodbye.
So I'm just sort of wandering around trying to find something I missed.
Thanks though.

Make sure that you periodically read Grigor's tablet including his personal notes. Otherwise, you might miss an important clue.

Stonzee, you said you have the coin display's key -- did you unlock the coin case yet? If not that may be what you're missing (also keep in mind Nancy will periodically get multiple keys - one for the file cabinet, one for the poster out front of the museum and one for the coin/jewelry cases)

Did you call Melina and ask about the coin display key?, that's one thing that held me up in one of my playthroughs - I've gone through the game 4 times since I installed it

I can't call Melina. She doesn't say anything.
Yes I have the key to the coin display but I don't have the option to use it.
I can't click the key on anything.

If I remember correctly - click the key (if the correct one) on the cpin display at center and later on the jewelry at left. There will be no exact alert or icons for it except the one holding the key.
Then click on the case and it will open.

Well now somehow I ended up in a room with an annoying alarm and a flashing blue light. I can't turn the alarm off. It won't let me click on it.
I keep getting fatal error. How do I get out of this room?

I tell ya, I stink as Nancy in this one. smile

Stonzee, just turn around and re-exit through the double doors. Later you'll be able to disable that alarm but have to find a clue first.

Yes, until you learn to disable that alarm, you can either avoid the workshop altogether or go through it very quickly without stopping to look at anything. laugh

Why is the kiln taking so long? I finished the vase and it's in the kiln. Been in there for about 5 minutes. Am I supposed to do something? think

I remember the vase not being ready right away. I went away and did one or two other things, and when I came back it was ready.

I should clarify what I just said - I meant that I went away and did one or two things in the game, and after that the vase was ready. I think it's kind of "a watched pot never boils" syndrome with this one. I don't remember if I just wandered around and then returned after a bit, or if I solved another puzzle or talked to a character, though. smile

I went through the double doors but now I'm stuck in some water world or something. There is no boat or anyway to get across the river.

The boat is always on the dock of the River Acheron. That is the only water that I know of in the game.

After you go through the blue double doors - there is stairs ahead of you and another set of doors at far right.
You're aim here is to look around at the underground.
Climb the stairs and see.

Did you go back to where you were after completing the 3 step puzzle on the Cerberus (3 headed dog) status? If so, Charon should be there.

The only other place below ground that I can figure is near water is just a pond in Tartarus (the land behind the red door on the other side of the stairs near the double doors)

I finished the Greek letter panel and opened the tunnel back to the museum. I went outside and looked at the back of the poster. I tried calling Melina for the authenication password but she won't talk to me. Help please?

It sounds like there is something else you need to do first. What is on your task list at present?

There is no boat there. And I don't have a remote for the lift.
So if I could get across the river I still have no way to get out.

I got the password! I hadn't finished with the provenance task. There was something not right. Nancy said to call Melina. I did and I got the password. Now I can continue! Thanks for your time Marian! I have played all 31 games and by now I should know how to find my mistakes. thanks wave

Great, Penny Lane.

Stonzee, I think the walkthrough will benefit your gameplay better. That way you can get the gist of the story also.
If you still do not want the walkthrough - have you checked the hydraulics room cabinet?
The code for that is found in Xenia's production script.
Be sure that you read everything also. Good luck.

I have followed Niobe through the hidden door, and come to the workshop, trouble is when I go in and the alarm sounds I do not get time to deactivate it, before I die, I can escape through the blue doors but can't do anything because Thanos has taken the remote. Now given my record I have definitely forgotten something but I have gone through the w/t and cannot figure what, I was hoping someone would have an ide before I go back and replay a large chunk of the game. think thanks

Have you found a piece of paper yet that gives you instructions on how to deactivate the alarm?

Click to reveal..
The piece of paper is in the Underworld.

Monbron,
Wonder if you called Melina and she asks you to watch Niobe already?

Stonzee,
It looks like you have a lot of things to finish yet.
Have you finished all what Melina asked on the letter as well as on the phone?
Have you talked to Xenia and Grigor again?
Have you checked their tablet?

Yes I have done all that Melina asked in her letter and on the phone.
I can't talk to Xenia or Grigor. They won't say anything.
I have checked the tablet and there is nothing new on it.

I cannot click on the panel beside the fire door. I am assuming it's the seeds puzzle? The panel won't highlight. Nancy is supposed to say that she needs to find the seeds. I've got the seed note. But nothing is happening. As is usual for me I'm probably missing something! duh

You won't be able to solve this puzzle until you find the missing seeds. I would focus on other tasks for now.

Here is what is on the task list: (although I can't do any of them)
- Find out what to do with the Greek letter panel in the tunel
- Compile a Greek alphabet
- Figure out the meaning behind the tablet entry about famous Greeks
- Open the letter box on Xenia's table
- Trugger the keypad in Tartarus
- Figure out what's inside the three judges trunk
- Find the password for the Authentication Database

If I try to do any of those things Nancy says "I can't do this now", "I need to find out how to do this first" or "hmmmm".

For the Greek alphabet, you need a blank piece of paper and some charcoal - do you have both of those items?

Assuming you have access to them at this point in the game, you can get the blank piece of paper from the printer in Melina's office, and you can get the piece of charcoal from the workshop.

Hello again. Am working on the scales. I am following your walkthrough. I understand weighing the three of each color against the other. Then, because they are not equal. I try to keep one and weigh the other two but obviously, I am doing something wrong.

I had trouble with this too - the first time I solved this puzzle, it was through trial and error. Saving my game right before this puzzle so that I could easily reload and get back to it was a help.

To reiterate the instructions, though: Weigh six stones first, three on either side. If the six stones are equal, weigh the remaining two and judge the heavier one. If the six stones aren't equal, weigh two stones from the heavier tray. If those two stones are equal, judge the remaining stone from the first weighing's heavier tray; otherwise, judge the heavier stone of the pair.

luck

Thank you. I have so many saves on this game that they might be longer than the game. I finally figured the scales out. This game was delightfully challenging and a great game. Thanks for your walkthrough and your help.

Hi everybody, its confused again, I did as MaG suggested and rang Melina who did indeed tell me to find out what Niobe is up to, but I am still dying when I try to enter the workshop, if no one has any better ideas I will have to go way back and replay, this time following the w/t carefully hardwall

If you have the paper/workshop notes that you find in Tartarus giving you directions to disable the alarm in the workshop, then I don't know why the game wouldn't allow you to try to do the alarm puzzle.

Maybe someone else will have an idea. sherlock

Monbron,

Just to verify -
- you enter the workshop through the secret door at the tunnel.
- You enter and the alarm goes off. You look close and click on the alarm panel on the wall and get a close up.
Or did you die immediately?

Thanks MaG Yes I enter the workshop via the secret door and the alarm goes off, but before I can get to the alarm panel I die!! cry However I go so fed up with trying to work out what I had forgotten, that I deleted all my saves and started the game again and this time I am following your w/t instead of doing my own thing and then checking, its like a whole new game so lets see where I get to, but thanks for your replies and I will let y'all know what happens. I just know its something that I have not done, because I have been here before in other games and ended up very embarrassed when I realised my stupidity. thanks dance

Good luck. The game is non linear - so things can be done differently from the walkthrough. Enjoy the new run.
I doubt it is because of stupidity. It might just be a note - a dialogue...

Okay, I just ran into Niobe in the museum in the play costume. Then I went through the secret door and ran into her dressed in black.
How did she change places and clothes so fast? It was only seconds. smile

Some other folks have noticed this on the Her Interactive forums - I didn't notice this, but it's definitely a small mistake that they made with the game, unless Niobe has magical powers or has a twin. laugh

I think everyone in this game is crazy.
Or they have split personalities. Or they have evil twins. Could explain how Niobe changed places so fast.

I theorize it as Niobe just put a black smock over her costume to keep clay dust and the like off of her costume. I'm guessing HER didn't expect people to notice her in the main hall and workshop at the same time.

I think everyone is crazy. One second they are nice and the next second they are screaming at Nancy. Irrational people abound at this museum.

How are you supposed to do the spider puzzle?
I can't get anything to work on it.

You have to slide the bars in a horizontal direction in order to free up a passageway for the spider to be able to go from top to bottom. I believe I clicked/dragged the bars back and forth.

Now I can't get the judging stones to work. I can't click on anything after I put stones on the scales.

I remember that you press the judges' button after placing the stones. Keep playing around with it and you'll get the idea, I think.

I finally got it.
But now I can't get the puzzle to raise the bridge.
I followed the directions in the walk through and it didn't work.
I tried the solution in the strategy guide and it didn't work either.
I just can't do this one.

This is a tricky puzzle, even with the walkthrough. I will send you a saved game right after finishing the raise-the-bridge puzzle.

I know I'm not understanding something in the walk through.
When you move the color things down do you go all the way down?
Or do you split some of them?

I can't remember now, to be honest. I know that I solved this puzzle while reading the official strategy guide and got lost halfway through it and managed to figure out the rest on my own. Anyway, I sent you a saved game, and you have that now if you need it.

Thank you. I just played around with it and got close.
I'll try to work on it and if I need the saved game then I have it.
Thank you.

You're welcome. I hope you are enjoying the game. I like to try to figure out puzzles on my own, too, but sometimes I just can't get them right.

Stonzee, When I did that puzzle MaG's way (which I think is easier than the strategy guide, personally) when it says to move down, I moved it all the way to the bottom corner.

I did do a video walkthrough of the game (in amateur mode) if that would help I could make a clip of just that puzzle and upload it for you, just let me know, it would only take a few minutes and I'd be happy to do it to help (same goes with any of the puzzles)

Ok just to report back, I restarted the game following the w/t this time and guess what I still died when I went through the hidden door - what I am doing wrong I have no idea. So I watched the youtube version which didn't actually help as they are completing the game in a difference way but it did give me an idea so I went back through the hidden door and immediately I went into the workshop I turned and went through the blue doors and then returned to the workshop back through the blue doors and was able to disable the alarm!! idea So if anyone is having the same problem this is what you do. dance

I disabled the alarm by coming through the hidden door though but I went in earlier from the double door and immediately went out. I didn't have the paper clue then.
Glad that you are moving forward.

I'm stuck at the point where I took the show poster out of the display box and read the message on the back. According to the WT, which I am following, I'm supposed to call Melina and get the password for the Authentication Program. Melina doesn't say anything about the password, if fact seems annoyed that Nancy has called her. The WT gives me the password , but when I tried to use it, it says INVALID ENTRY. Now Melina won't answer her phone, and I can't seem to find anything that I've missed doing.

I'm at a dead end right now, I think I've done everything the WT said to do; I'm 2/3 of the way though the game and I really don't want to start over.
Any suggestion?? Thanks.

Are you playing in Amateur mode? If so, what is on your task list?

It may seem like it, but I am almost positive that there are no dead ends in this game.

Congrats for playing Senior level. It's really hard to determine what you might have missed, without having a better idea of what else you could do besides trying to get the password for the authentication database. The game is pretty nonlinear. Maybe someone else will have some ideas for you.

I actually have two tasks undone - Find out what's in the Judges' box and finish doing the tasks Melina want me to do. The first I can't do until later in the game, and the task I need to do is authenticate the Jewelry, which I can't do until I get the password from Melina for the Authentication Program on the computer. Melina won't take my calls and the computer won't accept my password.

I know it's kind of a pain, but I would go over the walkthrough from the beginning, just to make sure that there isn't some little thing that you missed. If not, then we can try to come up with some ideas for you.

I really don't want you to have to start over - sometimes it can seem like you are at an impasse in this game, but as I said before, I don't believe there are any dead ends.

I found that almost always a missing trigger was in a conversation. Even after having a long conversation and I thought the conversation was over, I could go right back to the same person and there was more to say.

Do you have all the Greek Letters?
Did you solve that Stone Tokens puzzle?

It wasn't until I did the above puzzle that Melina would give up the password.

Thanks for the suggestions; I haven't played since last weekend.

Yes I have all the Greek letters. I did the stone token puzzle (with the help of the WT). I used the Greek letters to open the secret door from inside the tunnel. The WT then says to check the poster outside the door and read the message on the back - done. Now I'm supposed to call Melina & she's supposed to tell me to authenticate the vases and the jewelry - and give me the password for the computer program. Instead she seems annoyed that I've called and doesn't tell me anything. Now she doesn't answer her phone when I try to call her back.

I did reread the WT from the beginning, can't find anything that I've missed, but I'm going back to a saved game and try to play through that spot. This is kind of frustrating, I hate to start over cause I've enjoyed the game up to now.

Thanks Mag.
That didn't work - got stuck at the same spot . Now I'm starting completely over, this time in the Amateur mode, and reading the WT with a magnifying glass, so I won't miss anything. At least the puzzles are fun to do.
